Meet Lucius Baston | Actor & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucius Baston and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lucius, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Yes. It’s a quote by Michael Beckwith that states “Your pain pushes you until your vision pulls you.” For me, I was meandering through life doing things without purpose until I aligned with my creative purpose, which for me, is acting, producing and creating content for the world to enjoy.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I believe what sets me apart is my range and ability to play different types of characters on screen. I’m most excited about who I’m becoming as an individual and the direction I’m headed in this business. As I continue to grow as an actor, I’m also working diligently in the background to sharpen my producing skills. I want to be a part of the narrative that showcases diverse stories across all genres. Nothing about this is easy but anything worth doing is supposed to be challenging. When challenges arise, I just figure out a way to overcome it, get around it or just smash right through it. “No” and “Can’t” are not options in my world. The best lesson I’ve learned was to believe in myself. That we are all more powerful and resilient than we think. When you understand that you have incredible untapped power within you, there’s nothing that can stop you or get in your way from living aligned with your purpose. Through my work I will continue to create and produce diverse global content while taking on roles as an actor that I strongly resonate with. For now you can catch me in a recurring role as Phill Hodges in the new hit series “Lovecraft Country” on HBO. It’s a wild ride! “Bigger” on BET+ is in production for its second season where I’m reprising the role of Terry. Then in 2021, you’ll see the premier of the series “The Underground Railroad” directed by Academy Award winner Barry Jenkins coming to Amazon Prime Video.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my friends come through, I’m taking them straight to the Beltline and Piedmont Park. Being from NYC originally, those places give me sense of nostalgia but with it’s own flare. There are so many restaurants close by too. You can certainly find me hanging out at Ponce City and Krogg Street markets. I’m a regular at both. Ooooh… another spot is Char Korean Bar & Grill in Inman Park. That’s my chill spot.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d really like to thank my parents. Though it wasn’t the “ideal” situation growing up in a single parent home with 3 boys being raised by my father, my parents did the best they could with what they had. Today, I honor them.
