We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorenzo Raines and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lorenzo, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My talent ever since I was a child was art/drawing. I’ve always had the passion for art of all forms and as time and technology has advanced, it has made my passion and wiliness to learn more intense. I love learning anything new and innovative that can take my work to extraordinary heights. My career didn’t start out as an artist (graphic designer). A lot of my career started working in the military and occupations associated with the military. Even working in those careers, I still wanted to pursue something, if anything that delt with my art. I began doing freelance work (graphic design) and creating/printing t shirts, and that opened the door to all the possibilities of making money and pursuing some kind of career in the creative field. I then discovered and grown to love photography. This new skill opened even more doors and possibilities to expand and make money with my art. I’ve been working for the federal government as a graphic designer and have my own business as a photographer and graphic designer. I’ve been professionally doing these for almost ten years, and it has been great! I’ve met so many personalities and individuals to network with. I couldn’t have ever imagined that having a creative career would be so rewarding and exhilarating, and I love it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I currently work for the federal government as a graphic designer. I am always trying to find was to promote the organization I work for by innovating design styles to catch to eyes of our audience. I love learning and as technology and upgrades in software advance, I’m always willing to participate in training course to learn the newest trends.
Outside of my nine to five, I do photography. I’ve learned so much through my photography journey. There have been so many individuals that have helped and guided me to find a style that’s my own and become a successful photographer.
I photograph weddings, events, portraits and landscapes. Incorporating graphic design and photography has helped expand my creative range extensively.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, depending on the season, the first place we probably would visit the beach and the boardwalk. There are many restaurants and clubs on the boardwalk.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out my lovely wife, who always has my back no matter what decisions I make. I know she’s always in my corner, good or bad.

Every photographer that I’ve asked questions and picked their brains to gain knowledge in photography and how to become a better photographer.
