We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorenzo Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lorenzo, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Lorenzo’s thought process for starting the confess project was to provide resources for the black community as it relates to mental health and this was done through training barbers to help clients who would enter barbershops. This came from childhood experience from being in my aunt’s beauty salon and seeing how she operated within her business. It encouraged me to move forward in battling my own mental health issues after being incarcerated at 17.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Lorenzo is the Chairman of the Lewis family of business along with my wife Jordon Lewis who is the Vice chairwoman. We own and operate six businesses that spans from mental health and human services, grooming industry, real estate, books and publishing, vending machines, and public speaking. What sets us apart is that traditionally conglomerates are outdated but we are bringing a new level of sense to conglomerates that is focused on family oriented, culture business and giving persons opportunities through ownership, training and management which allows everyone to thrive in our business structure.

Starting the business was very challenging, but in a beautiful way. It has been rewarding because the lessons have become our blessings in business and we have been able to share this with others to help them thrive in their businesses as well.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend was visiting I would take them to:

Favorite spot- The selfie museum
Food: Big Dave Cheesesteak
Hangout: Piedmont Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
