We had the good fortune of connecting with Lois Burnett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lois, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
When someone chooses to pursue their passion and dreams the first thing they must recognize and accept is there will be risks. Success cannot be achieved without it neither can it be sustainable. In order to grow you must continue to take risks or remain stagnate even falling by the wayside while watching others around you blossom. It’s a part of the equation and formula to realize your goals. It causes you to stand out from the crowd as a leader. Sure, it’s scary and creates anxiety due to the fear of the unknown, but that’s when you find the confidence in your yourself, your dream as well as the courage to face those fears head on. They may not always work out, but if you remain steadfast and true to yourself you will be surprised at the opportunities risk-taking can afford you. I always refer back to the words of Bishop T.D. Jakes who said, “It takes a tenacious commitment to reach your dreams.”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At Hair Jewels by lolo®, we are “creating tomorrow’s memories today”. In order to do that you must have products that have longevity. Our hair jewels and lapel pins are yours forever. They were designed to be passed down to loved ones as keepsakes and reminders of special moments. Memories are so precious. Playing even a smart part in the creation of someone’s memories is the ultimate satisfaction. There are and will always be challenges when pursuing your dreams. It’s all in how you perceive them. You can allow them to discourage you or you can learn from them. What to do and what not to do. Adversity prepares you, strengthens you and builds your confidence. I am proud of the progress we have made since launching the business.. Being selected to be a part of GlamourUK’s “Hair Necessities Campaign” was a huge milestone. Being a part of Lightbeamers “Step into Your Brave Event” was exciting as well as rewarding. Another great opportunity was being featured in NextonScene’s Magazine in their hottest accessories gift guide. There is still plenty to do, but we are blessed to be headed in the right direction.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love historical sites. History is fascinating to me so I make time to visit places like the Atlanta History Center, the Civil Rights Museum or the Margaret Mitchell House the Atlanta History Center. Driving through old neighborhoods with the period homes, the Botanical Gardens, The Georgia Aquarium or the movie tour just to name a few. Checking out different restaurants for a variety of cultural experiences. Take in a play or take in a tour of CNN Newscenter or TCM. There’s really so much to choose from adventure would not be a problems.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Crown’d Fashions, Twistedfabrik, Candace Pitts
