We had the good fortune of connecting with Liza Ashe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liza, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson I have learned from having a business is patience. Patience is key… just like when you sow seeds you must wait for them to grow mature and ripen. If you pick the plant or fruit too early it will destroy it… you must have patience. Just like in business, once you get started you have be patient to see the results of your efforts.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I stopped modeling around 2015… I didn’t feel like the opportunities were growing and I was not seeing the images or projects I thought should be produced. I did a birthday photoshoot and had a two hour conversation with my photographer in which I expressed my desire to see Curvy Women artistically without fetishizing them… Good Curvy was born…

It had been a while since I had done anything artistic so I started with hand drawn images to get my creative juices flowing. I debuted my collection of drawings, “Raw Nudes,” with an Art Show in 2018. I was also . able to exhibit my work at fashion shows and events. The feedback was great from people who saw my work and so I started feeling more confident. I started a photo series called “The Shape of Woman.” This was the beginning of the black and white esthetic. I wanted the attention to be focused on the curves of the Women’s bodies. This collection highlighted Women with a variety of body types and I was able to hold a second show in 2019 to debut the art. In 2020 we filmed a Virtual Art Summit called “Curves on Canvas” where we interviewed models and photographers with a similar mission.

Currently we are gearing up for our 2021 Art Show… “Goddess Woman.” This collection questions who God really is and explores God’s identity… The images examine how Women fit into the whole idea of God. This show is about Women Empowerment and the power Women have already living inside. This show also features a short film that examines the history behind the imagery of God. It is going to be an amazing night of Art, history, and Goddess Vibes.

The biggest challenges have been getting the word out and financial support. Most of what Good Curvy does is spread by word of mouth. We have a community that talks about the brand and it grows as we grow. I don’t let anything stop the progress though… I continue with the mission no matter what is happening.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
