We had the good fortune of connecting with Litina Rainwater and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Litina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My desire to work for myself has been a driving force in my life, deeply influenced by my upbringing. My father ran a successful locksmith company, and my mother explored various entrepreneurial ventures, so the idea of self-employment has always resonated with me. Over the past decade, I’ve honed my photography skills, and as my passion and confidence grew, I realized I wanted to take it beyond the confines of a mall department photo studio. My ultimate goal is to create a business that allows me to spend more time with my family and have greater control over my time, all while doing something I truly love. I also want to share my knowledge by becoming an instructor, and helping others gain a deeper understanding of photography.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
“My career journey hasn’t been an easy one; it began with a lot of uncertainty about what I truly wanted to do with my life. Initially, I wasn’t sure if I had the confidence to pursue a path in photography. I started working at a photo studio when I was young, and I quickly discovered a deep passion for the craft. This ignited my desire to learn more and improve my skills.

As I gained experience at the studio, I realized that I wanted to take my knowledge further, so I decided to go back to school to study photography formally. This education provided me with a solid foundation, particularly in mastering settings and composition. From there, I gained valuable experience working as a second shooter for weddings and later as a digital tech at an advertising firm.

My career has been built on a lot of hard work, continuous learning, and perseverance. I’m incredibly grateful for the support I’ve received throughout this journey. I want the world to know that my story is one of dedication, and my brand represents a commitment to excellence in photography, driven by a passion for capturing the beauty in every moment.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
“If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d put together a relaxed yet memorable itinerary that showcases some of the best spots in the area. While I’m more of a homebody, I’d definitely take them to some of my favorite local spots in downtown Jefferson.

We’d start with a visit to Revival Hall, a fantastic place to enjoy drinks and unwind. It has a great atmosphere for just hanging out and catching up. For dining, we’d head over to Fork and Spoon, where the food is always a hit.

During the day, we’d take some time to enjoy the natural beauty of the area with walks at Williams Mill or Little Mulberry Park. Both parks offer serene settings that are perfect for a leisurely stroll and good conversation.

This combination of good food, great drinks, and peaceful walks would make for a perfect week, blending the best of what Jefferson has to offer with the simple pleasures of good company.”

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a special shoutout to my father, George Wauchope. He’s a seasoned locksmith with over 30 years of experience in the field. His journey from humble beginnings in Jamaica to establishing a successful business in the United States is truly inspiring. His hard work, perseverance, and determination have been a guiding light in my own entrepreneurial journey, and I owe a great deal of my drive and success to his example.
