Meet Lisa and David Jones: Acupuncturist and Reiki Master

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa and David Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa and David, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Patience. What we focus on will grow but we have to be unhurried and allow for the soul of what we do to evolve and become clear..

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are life-long learners. Our journey to opening Visionary Healing Center has taken us through many evolutions of ourselves and our understanding of our service in this life time. When we were in our 20’s, David was very sick. He was a practicing artist who turned toward alternative healing arts for his own care. This lead him to begin studying all aspects of natural healing, including meditation and spiritual teachings. When he entered Acupuncture school he was 52, almost the oldest person in his class (there was an 80 year old man beginning his new career as well!). He continues to study with teachers who are Masters in their specialties. Currently he is beginning to study QiGong with a local Master at Chien Hong School of Kung Fu in Decatur. The pile of books and list of online classes are always growing faster than we have time for but the interest is strong. I have taken a very long time to find my way to my Dharma, the service I was meant to provide in my lifetime. On my way I enjoyed studying art, learning to become a Chef, going to school for Nutrition and then studying energetic healing arts like Reiki and Chakra Balancing. Patience failed me at times. I often felt like I was going to get old before I could really begin. Both of us would say that we are glad to have found a way to continue to be relevant in our community as we age. We believe that is because we continue to learn, seek, ask and consider. Our most fulfilling days are happening now.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our Atlanta favorite spots include – a walk through Krog Street Tunnel and all around the unique and quirky Cabbagetown neighborhood – Auburn Ave. from beginning to end for its Atlanta history and its importance in the Civil Rights movement – Oakland Cemetery which is an extraordinary place to stroll and offers many starting points to understanding Atlanta – a Sound bath with Shawn Moore, Maestro Riko or Danielle Hall – Atlanta has great Sound Bath Healers! – dinner at The Consulate – a female chef who spins the globe and creates a menu from wherever the finger lands – cocktails at Ticonderoga Club or Tiny Lou’s – walking the Beltline at every chance because the Beltline is what caused me to fall in love with Atlanta first
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We stand on the backs of our teachers. For David that first means his own struggle with illness. His illness caused him to explore the healing arts, from art to music, from meditation to Traditional Chinese Medicine. All the teachers and creators in those fields are carried with him into every treatment session with his clients. For me it means my many friends and teachers but in particular it is Michal Spiegelman of Beacons of Change. She is my Reiki mentor, and before that my friend.
