We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Wall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsey, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Our Non profit is an animal rescue and an equine therapy facility that provides free therapy sessions to veterans and first responders. I have always had a passion for animals, and have volunteered for other rescues for 15 years in Pennsylvania, but it was always my dream since I was a child to have my own farm and start my own animal rescue. In Pennsylvania I had rescued a dog from Punta Cana that I had found in a trash can with her siblings while on vacation in 2017. We had found a local rescue to help her and we were able to coordinate flying her and her siblings to America, where we found her other two siblings homes, and we adopted June (who we nicknamed Punta June because she was from Punta Cana, DR). She was my everything and my baby and I loved her so much. Tragically, she escaped from a babysitters yard in 2018 and was hit by a car and killed at only 1.5 years old. Filling her legacy became my number one mission in life. I knew the need to rescue animals was much more abundant in the south, and I couldn’t run a rescue or a farm in the cold due to Lyme disease, so I decided to pack my life and move to Newnan Georgia in 2021 where I had met some amazing rescue friends and family while doing a rescue trip. I got my realtor license and bought a farm and started the non profit. I am a retired police officer of 7 years, but got injured on duty and retired in 2016, so I have always had a passion to help first responders. I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2019, and started my journey of healing, however found that help for people with PTSD is almost impossible to find. While getting my realtor license, I worked at a horse farm for fun and exercise, and I found that even while just scooping horse manure, I was at the most peace I had ever been, as long as I was near a horse. It was then I decided I would start the equine therapy program, because I knew if It helped me that much it could help others too.
So in 2022 June’s Second Chance Ranch was founded. We are a 501(c)3 non profit, licensed animal shelter and equine facility. We offer equine therapy to all adults with PTSD or other trauma related illnesses, and strive and have successfully been offering free equine therapy sessions to veterans and first responders who suffer from PTSD symptoms. We have seen great success in what we do and have rescued a lot of animals since we were funded and hope to continue to do more to bring hope, peace and love to our community in need.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have two full time careers, being a realtor and running this non profit/ farm. They are completely different but support one another and I love them both! I have met so many amazing people through both of my jobs. Running a non profit is extremely challenging. We are still figuring out funding, as of now we are 100% donation funded and volunteer run ( we have no paid employees) and it is constant work fundraising. So I would definitely say fundraising is the biggest challenge. I love the work we do and helping the animals and I don’t mind all of the work, but having to raise money to do it can be exhausting and frustrating. We have recruited some amazing volunteers recently to help with fundraising and I hope to get even more and start getting some grants so that we can focus on our mission more! I just want the world to know that we are here and that there are so many animals and people that need our help. I am able to volunteer so much and do this with the support of my real estate career. I go above and beyond for all of my clients and work really hard to make others dreams come true. I love real estate and love helping people find their dream homes and sell their old ones, and I do everything in my power to make it a smooth and enjoyable process!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I moved from Pennsylvania down here away from all of my best friends and family so they visit me often! I always show them around the farm, take them to my favorite hiking spots; Line Creek Nature Center and Browns Mill Battlefield. We do little therapy sessions with the horses, play with all of the animals, and I always take them into downtown Newnan, which I absolutely love. It has so many adorable shops and is so fun to walk around, there is always something going on in downtown Newnan. My favorite spot to hang out in Newnan is RPM, full service ball and restaurant. It reminds me of “Cheers”, where everyone knows your name! Great people and always a great time, we have had so many dogs adopted that we were able to bring there because it’s super dog friendly! There is also a really fun spot nearby called Banning Mills, that has zip lining, horse back riding, white water rafting and lots of super fun activities for the whole family!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would be no where without our amazing volunteers. We have a wonderful board of directors who have been there since the beginning who support us and keep us going. Our volunteers have done everything from manual farm labor and making our facility nice and functioning, to caring for the animals, to behind the scenes work on paperwork for the rescue, treasury bookkeeping, medical and adoption paperwork and processing, and so much more that goes into running a non profit and animal rescue. We also partner and are assisted by multiple other non profit organizations that support us and help us constantly and also do so much great work for the community; Newnan Coweta Humane Society, Cocos Cupboard Rescue/ Tails of Hope Service Dogs, and Operation Tackle Box. But I want to give a special shout out to our hard working dedicated volunteers/ board members, fosters and supporters that have gotten us to where we are and keep us going (in no particular order); Jessi Eagan
