We had the good fortune of connecting with Lex Perry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lex, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Ownership. Starting your own business gives you full entitlement to your endeavor. Ownership leads to Finacial freedom, connections, personal and business growth and etc. Owning my own business I’m 100% sure that no one can take this from me or hinder it in any way. Creating generational wealth, my thought process was to lead and provide.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

My business as a whole is LEX P ENTERPRISE LLC. Now I have a clothing brand. (Instagram: @hoodbrandco) It’s a streetwear clothing line dedicated and derived from the hardships of the “hood.” The goal is to have a comfortable and fashionable streetwear sold all over the nation.

What’s sets me a part from others would be my will to work and not stop. There have been millions of entrepreneurs that were one more idea away, and they quit.

Getting where I am today business wise was not easy. I took many loses and even got scammed a few times! Silly me, right? The key to overcoming obstacles in business is planning. Nothing will ever go how you plan it, no matter how long or rightfully thought out your logic is. When you set and plan a bunch of minor goals it makes it easier to stay focused. Have you heard of tunnel vision? I’ve learned that setting multiple daily goals makes it hard to get distracted or thrown off when one thing doesn’t go a certain way. You know you still have things on the agenda that need done and that keeps you moving forward. Versus not planning, running into a challenge and having a melt down abandoning other obligations.

Through my brand I want the world to know anything is possible. The word “hood” is often looked at as a derogatory remark and forbidden land if you’ve never been. My clothing brand sheds a different light on the struggle and highlights the thorn filled rose.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A week long trip would include creative inspiration trips like the museum or aquarium. We’d do the party scene a few times, as well as seminars and connection building activities. The food is great everywhere so that’s a no brainer. Even the people on the street bring you a different take on certain situations, and as a creative it just adds.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
4THEHOOD! I’d shout-out the hood behind hoodbrandco. The brand itself is a shoutout and recognition that something good can for certain come from something “bad,” or even nothing at all. Thank you for all the struggles and hardships of the hood because without those I wouldn’t be as sturdy! The world isn’t soft and the hood prepares you for that. Shout out Aliquippa, PA! We up now.
