We had the good fortune of connecting with Levina J. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Levina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly, I didn’t want to punch a clock anymore! I realized the things that were truly in my heart no longer resided In having a 9 to 5. More importantly, the impact I was having on my children by not sending them to a childcare provider everyday was significantly changing their behavior. They were happier and that was a game changer for me. There is nothing wrong with a 9 to 5 by the way. Working parents especially moms have to do what they have to do to provide. But I was personally ready to venture off into making my vocation my occupation. 10 out of 10, I highly recommend.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Finding success in the creative realm I don’t think is ever easy. Mostly because creativity is all perspective. The way one perceives your art may not always be the way you intended. You can’t control that. In the same breathe you can’t control the impact either. I’ve had women send me messages about how my journey inspires or motivates them. I’ve also had women say they don’t feel like I represent motherhood well or women in general. It’s all perspective! Now with all the content I post do I intend to be inspiring? Yes, but if I’m being real sometimes it’s a personal reminder to keep myself going, feel beautiful to me. The fact that it helps others is a blessing. I have by no means arrived, but a lesson that I have been learning and pray I continue to learn, is that I am not for everyone, and everyone is not for me. Every opportunity that comes though it may look good it may not be good for you! So I’m constantly doing my best to be patient and wait for the moment I know is coming where the world will see what myself and my supporters have seen all along.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is so funny because one of my close friends is after my own heart and we are reviewers! By that I mean an establishment has to have 4 stars MINIMUM before we visit or we don’t go! Haha. We always make it a point to try something new. With that being said, For Dinner it would Definitely be between “Little Alley Steak” or “Tribeca-Buckhead”. Their menu’s are 10 out of 10 and everything is delicious! For cocktails, some of the best I’ve had recently were at Pasha ATL & Thrill Korean Steakhouse. And if you’re looking for fun for the family I definitely recommend Sugar Factory, Andretti Indoor games, or the aquarium! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Off the Top, my Husband & my Mother. I have to say I’m blessed because I’m lucky enough to have some amazing friends and family who support and encourage me. They celebrate the small victories with me, as well as keep me accountable to my word. Without a shadow of a doubt though, my Husband and my mom are fierce in that category. They not only provide practical wisdom, but spiritual wisdom as well. When it comes to the tough love they don’t hesitate, but when it comes time for me to put all my thoughts into action they are right there to cheer me on! I couldn’t live this life without them!
