We had the good fortune of connecting with Leslie Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leslie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risks are necessary in entrepreneurship, it allows for greater opportunity. Taking risks has played an important role in my career as it has allowed me to stretch myself and has helped me to understand my capabilities. Through the many risks that I have taken so far, most have led me on a path of success and has given me the ability to thrive in my business in the midst of a pandemic. For the risks that I have taken, and have failed, I interpret those failures as stepping stones and have utilized them as data when making future decisions in my business.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I am an award winning personal brand photographer & visibility coach. A creative entrepreneur who finds joy in empowering women entrepreneurs to recognize their spirit, energy, and essence that will solidify their brand and story. What sets me a part from others in my industry is that I help women entrepreneurs to build brands from the inside out, gain clarity, confidence, and, ultimately, teach them how to be seen from all angles of their business..

I am most proud of the great connections, trusted relationships, and the positive transformations that I witness when working with clients. It really sets my soul on fire.

There is a saying that I’ve heard repeatedly while growing up. It says, “Nothing worth having comes easy” This quote along with faith and prayer has gotten me through some of the roughest days of my business. I am truly grateful for my spirituality, support system, tribe, and mentors for getting me to where I am today. It truly takes a village. There is another quote that I often take with me daily and it states,If You Want To Go Fast, Go Alone. If You Want To Go Far, Go Together.” Entrepreneurship has its peaks and valleys, triumphs and challenges. I have overcome many challenges by seeking education, mentorship/coaching, surrounding myself with like-minded individuals, taking risks, and pushing through difficult times.

Some of the lessons that I have learned along the way is to always set goals and break them into smaller steps, and don’t push back from your vision.  Build meaningful relationships and affirm your desires. Mindset is everything, so do whatever it is while scared. Make investments in yourself, and be sure to carve out time for self-care.

I want the world to know that I am passionate about this work because it’s been learned that entrepreneurs should replicate the standardizations of the industry. I am a true believer that each and every one of us has unique capabilities and personalities that will connect with our potential clients as there is an audience for everyone. It takes more than just images to create a brand with impact, you have to do the inner work to create a strong, personable effect!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shout out to my husband Carlos Gomez, for supporting my dream. My children, for giving me motivation when things get hard. My cousin Sophia Miller, who supports me in all aspects of my life. My entrepreneurial besties Qiana Coachman, Candace Donaldson, Endia DeCordova, and Anjeanette Preston for keeping me grounded. My mom for always keeping me in prayer and cheering me on.
