We had the good fortune of connecting with Leslie C. Leal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leslie C., what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It all. started when a business owner approached me about providing Social Media Services for his business. He took notice that I was managing a couple of my family’s accounts already and liked my work.

I declined the job offer at first, thinking, I was not cut out to be a freelancer, but then a friend asked me to partner up with her to provide Digital Marketing Services.

That is when it hit me, “Do I have a skill for Digital Marketing that I am letting go to waste?” “Maybe this is my time to finally call something of my own.” You see for the longest time I had worked for my family’s business and it became frustrating we could not all agree on a topic.

So, I took a leap of faith and told the business owner that I had reconsidered and I would onboard him as a client.

Today, I still work for my family. But now I do it remotely and I focus on their Digital Marketing.

What should our readers know about your business?
I put in a lot of hours in YouTube learning, invested in Courses, Read Books, and invested in Tools and Equipment.

At first, it is really hard, because you want to already be successful. You work so hard, put in the time, and yet you are so broke. The math just doesn’t add up.

However, you have to just keep going. I was really lucky enough to have a support system at home. However, if you don’t, I suggest you look for a Coach. It is pricey, but trust me, they will encourage you, help you save time, and gude you so you can get where you have to go faster. If I could do it all over again, I would have invested in that 1k course sooner and hired a coach right away.

I enjoy helping Service Providers succeed in their businesses. Doing the research, staying consistent, providing value to the right audience is what I do best.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Greensboro, North Carolina is really stepping it up. You must visit the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts for a show to remember. Then visit Burbon Bowl for some Drinks, Food, and Fun. After, maybe event do some Latin dancing at Limelight, one of the hottest clubs in North Carolina.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to be really thankful to my husband, Gio Leal, that has always supported me and pushed me to continue in this Digital Marketing Career.

When I felt like giving up, he was there cheering me on and reminding me that it is good to have bad days, so we can appreciate the good days even more.

Also, my father, Armando Hernandez, has trusted me enough to be in charge of Hernandez Carpet Cleaning’s Digital Marketing efforts. It is a good feeling to be able to test marketing strategies and see positive results.

And I can’t forget the Social Media Queen, Rachel Pedersen. She inspired me to learn more about Social Media Management for Service Providers. I encourage anyone with a desire to learn Social Media Management to take her free SMU course online.
