We had the good fortune of connecting with Leonard Gwinn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leonard, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well, I have always had an entrepreneurial mindset and have started and ran multiple businesses. So I think my thought process has always been to figure out the steps to take in order to be successful in whatever industry my business may be apart of.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Watch MVN is an ad based streaming television network that’s similar to HULU, Amazon Prime, and Tubi. At the time of this interview the network can be downloaded and streamed for free on Amazon Fire Tv devices, Roku Tv devices, Apple TV devices, iOS and Android mobile devices. What sets us apart from other networks is that we can be accessed in every single inhabited country in the world. Although we have mainstream content, we like to cater to independent filmmakers that we feel the world should know about. The network launched in 2016 as a 24 hour scheduled programming channel that has evolved into what it is today, a full on-demand network with live and TVOD options.. There has been a lot of time, hard work, and money put into the network to get it where it is today. It hasn’t been an easy process. A major network offered to buy the platform for a substantial amount of money but we respectfully declined. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I live in Orlando, Fl and it is a multitude of things to do here for all ages. There’s a lot of great eateries that caters to all ethnic groups, it’s like one big melting pot. Plus you can never go wrong with visiting any of the numerous amusement parks. I love going to the live dinner shows, that’s always a great experience.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First I would like to thank Phil Jordan for being the person who initially planted the seed in my mind to create such a network and being a genuine person since day 1. We have created a bond that never can be broken. Next I would like to thank DeChelle Tisdale for always believing in me and my endeavors, and being able to always tap me into the right people and places to ensure my success. Third I want to thank my family, Friends, business partners, and mentors Johnny “Crusher” Jackson & Khalalah Yisrael-Jackson for believing in me and this venture, for always giving me sound advice, and giving me those tough talks that’s needed. Last and most important, I thank my wife Evette for believing and supporting me through it all. Also for making the sacrifice with me, rather it be time or money, she’s always allowed me to lead, and she’s always the voice of reasoning. It’s plenty more people I could thank, but I don’t want to take up your full day, lol.
