We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura M Garcia C and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura M, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Art has been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember. Drawing and creating with my hands has always brought me a sense of peace and fulfillment. Following this path wasn’t a conscious decision; it was simply what made me feel in my element.

Over time, I realized I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Art isn’t just my work; it’s my form of expression and how I connect with the world. I’ve been fortunate to encounter people and opportunities that have allowed me to turn this passion into my profession.

What I value most about my work is being able to share my art with others. Each tattoo I create is a way to make something unique and meaningful for someone else. I’m grateful to be able to dedicate myself to what I love while bringing something special to people’s lives.

In essence, pursuing an artistic career was a natural path for me. It’s who I am, what makes me happy, and I’m glad to be able to share this gift with the world

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Reaching the point where I am today has not been an easy road. Throughout my professional career, I have faced challenges that far from discouraging me have been essential to my personal and artistic growth. In the art world, the lack of recognition and fair compensation is a constant obstacle. Even when an artist possesses extraordinary talent, it is not always given the value it deserves, which can be discouraging on many occasions.
On the other hand, contemporary art, with its constantly changing nature, presents another difficulty since practically anything can be considered art, which complicates the search for a clear identity in this field. Moreover, this situation affects not only the visual arts, but all artistic disciplines such as music and cinema. Thus, from my perspective, true artists are distinguished by their courage and love as they decide to follow their passions despite the many obstacles they may encounter along the way.

In my case, I always knew the journey would be difficult, but my love for artistic expression was always stronger than any doubts or fears. From a very young age, I was deeply attracted to tattooing, even before I started my college education. This interest was not a passing interest, but an innate passion that has been present in me from the very beginning. However, it was through makeup art that I found a more flexible way to experiment since I could correct and start over, something that tattooing does not allow. This feature of makeup allowed me to develop my skills until the moment that with greater growth and maturity, I decided to focus on tattooing as a definitive form of expression.
In the same way, love, both for art and for what I do, has been a crucial factor in my life. This love has allowed me to pay meticulous attention to detail and create works that are meaningful to both myself and those who rely on my work. In fact, this dedication to meaning and detail has been a pillar in my professional development.
Although the challenges have been many, I have found satisfaction at every stage of my career, whether in the academic or work environment. Passion and love for my art have been the strengths that have driven me to overcome every obstacle. Every experience and every project has taught me something new to keep learning and improving. Also, even though I have already reached a certain level of experience and recognition, I consider art to be a field where there is always something more to discover. Therefore, as an artist I am always open to explore, learn and keep improving in everything I am passionate about.
Finally, I firmly believe that names have deep meanings. In my case, my initials, LAMAGA, form the word ‘magician’ in English, which resonates in a special way with my identity as an artist. In a certain sense, being an artist is like being a magician, capable of transforming ideas and emotions into something tangible and lasting.
In conclusion, although the road has been arduous, each challenge has strengthened me and contributed to my development. Therefore, I want the world to see me as a passionate artist, committed to her art and who, despite her achievements, continues to seek new opportunities to learn and transcend.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To make the most of the week, we would start by exploring the charming downtown of Lawrenceville, strolling through its historic streets and eating tapas in Barcelona, a Spanish restaurant perfect for sharing good times. Then, we would make a trip to Stone Mountain to enjoy the views and have a picnic in nature.
In Atlanta, a visit to the Georgia Aquarium is a must, followed by a quick lunch at Chick-fil-A, a local classic. In the evening, the Rooftop at Palo Santo offers vibrant music thanks to AU.RA and a breathtaking view of the city.
Another ideal plan would be to enjoy a cocktail at MidCity, while exploring local boutiques and stores. We can’t miss a meal at Nuri, where the sushi is simply delicious, and finish with a special tattoo at Elegance Tattoo Collective for a unique souvenir of the experience.
To top it all off, we could discover new places together or visit the Atlanta Botanical Garden to enjoy the natural beauty in the middle of the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My success in the art world is not only the result of my effort, but also of the influence and support of many people and experiences that have been crucial in my life. Therefore, I would like to dedicate this achievement to all of them who have left an indelible mark on my artistic career.
First of all, I dedicate my success to my grandfather, whose mastery as a painter not only inspired his family, but also gave me a deep love for art from a very young age. Through his works, I learned to see the world with different eyes and to understand that art has the power to express what words cannot. His artistic legacy was undoubtedly the foundation upon which I built my passion and desire to explore different forms of expression.
Likewise, to my parents, whose unconditional support was fundamental for me to follow my vocation. From the moment I decided to dedicate my life to art, they never stopped believing in me, even when my path took unexpected directions, such as makeup art and, finally, tattooing. Their confidence gave me the strength to overcome obstacles and continue forward with the certainty that I was following the right path. In addition, I can’t forget to mention my uncle, who not only gave me his emotional support, but also offered me his skin for my first tattoo. This gesture of trust was a turning point in my life, and made me realize that tattooing was not just a curiosity, but a real passion that I wanted to explore. In fact, his generosity and understanding marked the beginning of my career in the world of tattooing, an art that had always stimulated my imagination, and which became my vocation thanks to his encouragement and support.
In the same way, I thank my friends and partners, who have been by my side every step of the way accepting and celebrating my identity as an artist. Their understanding and unconditional support gave me the space to grow and develop, even at times when uncertainty and doubts might have held me back. Their constant presence was a reminder that I was not alone in this journey.
On the other hand, I want to thank all the people who have accompanied me on my journey, from my schoolmates to the fellow artists and tattoo artists I have met over the years. They saw in me a potential that I sometimes hesitated to recognize on my own, and their confidence in my talent was a source of motivation that pushed me to move forward, to improve and to explore new boundaries in art.

Similarly, I cannot forget the influence that certain books and experiences have had on my artistic development. The encyclopedia ‘The World of Children’ was my first encounter with art and awakened in me an insatiable curiosity for drawing and visual creation. Years later, the book ‘The History of Ugliness’ by Umberto Eco, taught me to value beauty in what others might consider ugly, and inspired me to create works that challenge aesthetic norms and seek to provoke and discomfort, rather than simply please.
Finally, I dedicate this success to the clients who have trusted in my art, wearing it on their skin and to the tattoo studios that have given me the opportunity to grow and evolve as an artist. Thanks to them, I have been able to expand my horizon and reinforce my identity as a tattoo artist, which has led me to this new chapter in my life, in ‘Elegants’.
I am deeply grateful for each person who has been part of my journey, and to them I dedicate each piece, each line and each piece that I have had the privilege to create.
