We had the good fortune of connecting with Latricia Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Latricia, what are you inspired by?
My inspiration comes from God, my children, and the desire to help God’s people.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Ministry is my first love. However, I’ve been an entrepreneur since 1995, owner and operator of Holy Hands hair salon in Flint, Michigan. When my three children and I relocated to Georgia in 2011, I left my business and everything I owned due to domestic violence. I had 800 dollars in my bank account, a 1995 Rivera that I had purchased for 500 dollars. I packed my trunk with our clothes, and we were out. Long story short, we came into downtown Atlanta my eldest son, who was 15 at the time, said this place looked like opportunity. Also, we passed by this bridge and saw a least a dozen white blankets under the bridge. We couldn’t believe that it was people. It blew our minds we hadn’t seen homelessness in that magnitude ever. That broke my heart, and a ministry was birthed from it. Every Sunday before the pandemic, my children, friends, and I would go downtown Atlanta and feed the homeless. My many years of domestic violence birth a ministry for women’s deliverance and my first book: Waiting On My Ruth Experience. A guide for deliverance for women. I have three published self-help books in total. Additionally, I do a segment called We have Overcome which gives survivors a platform to tell their stories. I also have a self-publishing company MM God First Co, to help people tell their stories. I also have a Media Company, Master’s Media God First Production; we do videography, photography, and Social Media Management. Everything I do is for the Kingdom of God and His glory. It wasn’t easy. I had a lot of challenges, and some days I thought I would lose my mind. But, I overcame them by faith, more importantly by the grace of God. What I’ve learned is don’t let your current (hardships, failures) situations talk you out of your future. I would want the world to know that I stayed true and kept the faith.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Breakfast at Barney’s Blue Seafood

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, all the glory and honor belong to God. There are a few people that I could recognize I had a good love and support system. My mother rests her soul, children, friends, family, and sisters in Christ. However, one that stands out above the rest is Melvin Marks, my mentor. Unfortunately, he’s resting as well.
