Hi Latoya, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Ever since I was a little girl, hair has been my greatest passion. From experimenting with different styles, products and techniques to studying the science behind healthy hair, I’ve always been fascinated by the art of caring for hair. It’s not just about styling; it’s about nourishing, protecting, and enhancing the natural beauty of every strand.
As a hairstylist, I noticed a gap in the market for high-quality haircare products that truly delivered on their promises. Many products fell short, leaving clients frustrated and dissatisfied. This realization sparked the idea of starting my own haircare brand. I wanted to create a line of products that not only met the highest standards of quality but also addressed the specific needs and concerns of my clients.
The thought of developing my own haircare brand was very exciting especially because I knew I would make so many people happy and satisfied. I envisioned a range of products formulated with the finest ingredients and all handmade by me . I was driven by the desire to provide effective solutions for common hair issues and to empower individuals to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin.
Launching my own haircare brand wasn’t just a business decision; it was a passion project. It was about sharing my expertise and love for haircare with the world, and making a positive impact on people’s lives. My business journey as a hairstylist and founder of my own haircare line has been a deeply rewarding and transformative experience. As a hairstylist, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with clients from diverse backgrounds, understanding their individual needs and concerns firsthand. I’ve learned so much from interacting with my clients and that also helped me with creation of haircare solutions that go above and beyond what clients and customers expect with satisfactory results.
I’m most proud of and excited about is the ability to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives through my haircare products. Seeing the positive transformations in my clients’ hair health and confidence is incredibly fulfilling. It’s a testament to the efficacy and quality of my formulations, which have been meticulously developed and tested to deliver real results.
To get to where I am today hasn’t been easy at all. Like any entrepreneur, I’ve faced my fair share of challenges along the way. From navigating the complexities of product development and manufacturing to establishing my brand presence in a competitive market, there were times when the future ahead seemed difficult. But I’ve learned to embrace these challenges as opportunities for growth and innovation.
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the importance of resilience and adaptability. In moments of uncertainty or setback, I’ve remained firm in my commitment to my passion for haircare, constantly iterating and refining my approach to overcome obstacles. I’ve always been proactive in seeking feedback from clients and customers and investing in continuous learning and development. Throughout my best friend’s week-long visit to the area(NYC), I’d ensure they experience the city’s vibrant energy and diverse culture to the fullest. We’d kick off our adventures with brunch at the iconic Apollo, indulging in a delicious spread of soul food classics while soaking in the rich history and lively atmosphere of this legendary venue. One evening, we’d venture to a rooftop bar for drinks and panoramic views of the glittering skyline.
We wouldn’t miss the chance to explore the bustling streets of Times Square, taking in the dazzling lights and lively atmosphere. A leisurely walk through Central Park would be a must. We would even make out time for a cozy night in, cooking a homemade meal together and reminiscing over shared memories. With each passing day, we’d uncover more of the city’s hidden gems. From cultural landmarks to culinary delights, the possibilities in New York City are endless, ensuring an unforgettable week of exploration and discovery.

Yes, I’m thrilled to dive into this! When reflecting on my journey, I’m reminded of the incredible support system that has been instrumental in my success. Firstly, I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my wonderful kids Daquan and Sianna, who inspire me every day with their unwavering belief in me and my dreams. Their love and encouragement fuel my determination to pursue my passions fearlessly.
