We had the good fortune of connecting with Latisha Thibodeaux and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Latisha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
From the age of 5 I knew what I was passionate about. I knew what I wanted to do with my life in my career field so I stuck to the plan. My mom is a hairstylist for over 30 years so I grew up in the shop. I admired her all my life and I was infatuated with hair. The looks on her clients faces and the confidence she gave them after their transformation was everything. That is what drove me into my field. The feeling that I got from being able to build other women in my own creative ways. It’s was definitely passion behind me starting my own business. Doing what I love and loving what I do.
What should our readers know about your business?
Tresses By Evon was created to uplift the confidence of women all over the world. I specialize in extensions and cater to women with all types of hair loss conditions and women who just love to add enhancements to their natural beauty. My extensions are one of a kind. Providing a flawless natural look to each client when wearing them. They are also guaranteed to last 3 years or more. The investment is always worth it. I am a versatile stylist so whether you’re going for a dramatic look or a soft look or even in between I can accomplish them all. The secret is in the quality of the hair and the passion that I put into my work when I am creating. Some days are good days with great vibes and good profits and some days are not so productive. Being an entrepreneur and a mom sometimes takes a lot out of me but I constantly feel the love I have for what I do in my heart and I’ve never had the desire to quit and I never will. I know my destiny and for that I will always follow because this is what makes me happy. I’ve learned that I will not please everybody and I’m fine with that. I realize that the people who are meant to be a part of my path will be just that and the ones who aren’t will not. It’s just that simple. I want the world to know that Tresses By Evon isn’t just a company. It’s a company ran by a virtuous and powerful black woman filled with love and abundance in every single individual I will encounter and in everything that I do and when you need me I am always here. To uplift! To encourage! To empower! To love! To live! To touch lives! And to transform lives!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m an Atlanta native and I love when my best friend visits. I get excited taking her all around my hometown and we love to eat so we visit some of the best flavors of Atlanta. First we’ll start with Jamaican! Scotch Bonnet is my favorite Jamaican cuisine in the city. We’ll later hit Barber Bistro in Marietta for a good hookah and a few good drinks to pre game for the night life because we’re definitely going to Halo to party for the night! We’ll ride scooters all through the city and whatever we land is where it’s at. We both are free spirits so we don’t really plan too much we just kinda flow with each other. We’re definitely getting it in at the lazy crab in Jonesboro for some great seafood several times! I’d like to take her to to bodies exhibit as well. Pretty dope! A ride on the Atlanta Ferris wheel. I’d also love to take her to dine in at this amazing Latin restaurant on crescent avenue called Publico. You can eat inside of an igloo. Dope! We’re definitely hitting up our favorite promoters over at A-list ATL for a lit section and party like it’s our birthday! They always take good care of us when we step out! We enjoy sitting pretty and enjoying this dope car show hosted by uptown car club. The dopest cars in the city comes out for this one! It’s always a cool vibe! Then we’re going to hit the south side and we most definitely showing the infamous U-Bar on camp creek major love and vibes! I can’t forget our shopping! We have to pick up some fly fits at Merci boutique by Karli Redd in north point mall and level up boutique over on the south side. We’re lit all week long! Visiting family and other friends in the mix of our festivities. We love visiting our girl who is my cousin Janisha Cunningham and owner of Skinpliment LLC for a good wax and facial. There’s just so much to do every time we link.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother has always been my inspiration. I was blessed to inherit her gift naturally and I’ll forever be thankful for that. She’s been my critic and teacher along the way. Teaching me the ins and out of the hair game. I also would like to give a shout out to Ming Lee of Atlanta for setting the tone for women in our culture. She’s a true mogul in the hair business. I admire her! Also rich dad poor dad has been a major influence on my finances and money management while being an entrepreneur. My children Alina, Princeton, and Tahj are my biggest supporters! My children encourage me more than anything. They are the captains of my whole operation!
