We had the good fortune of connecting with LaShai Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaShai, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote is “If a task is once begun, never leave until it’s done, be the task big or small, do it well or not at all.”
I don’t know the original source of this quote but my paternal grandfather instilled it into our family and the quote continues to guide me in my decision making to this day. Although my late
grandfather, Hosie Lee Joshua was born and raised on the remnants of a plantation in Mississippi in the late 1920s and only matriculated through the 6th grade, his tenacity and diligence pushed him to found his own cleaning company in the 1980s. His company supported his wife and 3 children and allowed him to own properties in California and Georgia in his lifetime.
This quote is the epitome of my grandfather’s legacy for me. No matter what I undertake, I should not only complete my tasks but also be excellent in the execution as well. Starting and running a nonprofit organization and a limited liability company have not been easy tasks for me, but reflecting on my grandfather and what he endured without the education, access, or resources that have been afforded to me as an entrepreneur in 2021 keeps me motivated. With every program, every service, and every collaboration that I come across, this quote reminds me that I must see them fully through to the best of my ability. And in the event that I cannot commit myself to excellence in a particular task I have to turn down the opportunity.
What should our readers know about your business?
Restoring the Breach, Inc. is a faith-based 501(c)(3) corporation operating in the Statesboro-Bulloch County area with the vision to bestow unconditional love through righteous acts by providing citizens with tools to help them build the life they want for themselves and their families. The organization specifically offers spiritual, physical, emotional, social and financial services by providing residents of Bulloch County, youth, citizens, and college students alike, with advisement, tutoring services, and community outreach programs. Our nonprofit is unique in the community members we serve as well as in the areas that we serve them. We are most excited about celebrating our 5th anniversary this upcoming March. Running a nonprofit has not been easy, but we have overcome our challenges through the grace of God as well as continued research and community partnerships. In the past 4 years we have learned that it takes not a village to run a nonprofit, not just funds. We wholeheartedly believe that we have made Statesboro a great place to live for all of the residents in a short amount of time and we will continue to do so.

Patience has been the biggest lesson in business so far. Although you may receive the vision quickly, laying a strong foundation takes time. We want people to know that as long as there is a need for improved financial literacy, our company will be here to love, to serve, and to educate.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I could take my best friend on a weekend tour, I would take them to Del Sur restaurant for the best breakfast/brunch in town, shopping at the downtown boutiques and the local farmers market, lunch at my favorite Statesboro restaurant Coconut Thai, bowling at the Clubhouse, a Georgia Southern football game, and a fancy dinner at Bull and Barrel restaurant.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Philip Campbell Jr. He has supported me spiritually, emotionally, and physically in the inception and the matriculation of both businesses and I would not be where I am today or who I am today without him.
