We had the good fortune of connecting with Larrisha Fletcher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Larrisha, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think that risk is the foundation of my craft when it comes to designing for my clients. From the beginning and even now being a self taught designer, it has become second nature for me to toe the line. Most of pieces that I’ve created have been garments that I’ve never made before.. The courage to see a difficult project through, along with confidence and skill are the reasons that I’m successful in my business as a fashion designer.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a self taught fashion designer and I focus on custom garments. I make everything from scratch so I enjoy watching the process of fabric becoming a pattern and eventually a professional article of clothing. I think the fact that I am self Taught and wear all the hats in my business sets me apart from the rest. I do everything from being my own receptionist, to creating fabrics , sketching designs and being the seamstress. I got to this point in my career honestly from reading , watching YouTube videos in sewing , and taking my own clothes apart and putting them back together to see how things work. I’ve always been creative so it kind is just came to me, however nothing comes easy.. practice makes perfect. I’ve learned not to be so hard on myself , we are all a work in process. I’ve worked hard to get where I am and I’m excited to see where else God decides to take me and my brand.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to a nice rooftop, I love a good view with good company & drinks. Brunch is a favorite amongst my group of friends, so a hotspot for brunch will definitely be on itinerary for the weekend. Anywhere, where there is great company, music and mimosas! —we also would definitely adventure out doors, a good hike and perfect views will always be an amazing and peaceful outing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes, I’d like to shout out my mother. She has been my biggest supporter through my journey. She encouraged me to start my business in the first place. My first experience with a sewing machine was with her so I owe her my thanks and gratitude for making me the designer I am today.
