We had the good fortune of connecting with Landon Sears and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Landon, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Being able to create the kind of music I would like to listen to is very important to me. The more I can focus on creating stuff that I like and allow myself to be influenced by great music, the more I can grow as a creative as a whole.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love to record. I record constantly. My ear is drawn to different stuff at different times but I really do have an affinity for smoother live sounding hiphop/r&b. I have a background in violin so a lot of times I think of melodies like i’m playing a string part. I’m proud of all the projects I dropped last year. Dropped an album called “88.1” that I am incredibly proud of and then I dropped three EP’s as well (Call Collect 6, 7., 8) I’m excited in the new year to keep dropping music and to continue to make great music i love. I want to take what I’ve done musically and go even further with it. I think I got to where I am professionally by constantly recording and releasing over and over again until people started to be receptive to it, especially in Asia. I have a lot of Asian fans that are always contacting me asking when new music is dropping and It means the absolute world to me. I want the world to know that good music is available to those who aren’t spoon fed, often times you just have to LOOK to find it. I think basically what i’m saying is that if you love music, dig for it and you might find your favorite artist. I’m from Danville Kentucky and there isn’t much of a music scene. BUT that’s something i’m going to change, especially with how easy it is to get a song on Spotify these days. I think there’s going to be a lot of inspired kids and I want to keep that energy going and give people the spark to want to record something.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Nashville I’m keeping it simple I’m not gonna lie. I’m eating at Las Palmas or Smoking Thighs, those are my top two spots and i’d probably go to Music City Thrift for shopping purposes. I haven’t went to a ton of bars in east that people talk about but i’m about to move around that area so I’m sure I will check them out when I get moved in. Another good spot if you want a beer and a burger is Jack Browns. My friend just won the burger challenge there…. he had to eat like 13 burgers or something idk haha but the food is incredible.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d shoutout so many people. There have been a lot of musicians that have lended a helping hand in creating my current sound and previous releases. Shoutout to a lot of my producer friends Caleb Lee, Inverness, DJ Grumble ,Joe Markk, Gato, amongst others. Also big shouts to the musicians who play on a lot of my records it’s so many people to name but Gretchen on bgvs, Heaven Mccoury & Jimi Greene who do a lot of guitar stuff, the broomestix boys, Owen Mccloskey who has been my right hand man on the keys for years, just so many people I could go on and on. There’s a huge All Music credit list of everyone that I work with and I am very appreciative of them for all they do.
