We had the good fortune of connecting with Lamont Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lamont, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Growing up I always love taking pictures of family, friends, even myself. Photography at the time was just for fun, I never planned for it to become my actual business.

It all started when I lost my 9 to 5 job and needed a source of income! What made me give photography a shot is when I met a locally model by the name of Cassidy that was interested in pictures from me.

Once I captured her photoshoot I know photography was something I didn’t mind pursuing.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am known for my creative fashion, boudoir, lifestyle, and wedding photography/videography. Im proud I was able to make great income from something I enjoy doing.

It wasn’t easy getting to where I am today, my first two years into photography l worked for free or at a very cheap rate to gain as much knowledge and skill as I could until I was ready to start charging. I learned that skills is only one part of the business and what’s most important is great customer service, my business is a word of mouth based business so customer service goes a long way

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had to take a friend from out of town out in North Carolina I would most likely pick Charlotte NC. I would go to ifly, Carowinds, and maybe a few bars in the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
At the moment I don’t have any specific at the moment far as mentors, I was self taught but I did watch a few YouTube videos from time to time
