We had the good fortune of connecting with LaMar Baylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaMar, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success/brand success is my unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional quality and exceeding expectations. This dedication has fostered trust, loyalty, and a positive reputation within the industry, driving sustained growth and recognition for my talents, intelligence and artistry.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Dancer by Degree but an Artist by heart. I am not limited by constructs which try to define me, as my capacity extends far beyond any parameters set forth. Dance is a part of my existential journey, it is the art form that saved my life. When I reflect on my art form, dance, is a fusion of passion, expression, and storytelling.
What sets me apart is my dedication to authenticity and innovation, constantly pushing boundaries and exploring new avenues within the dance world. I’m most proud of my ability to connect with prople on a deep emotional level and to inspire them through movement.
My journey to where I am today professionally has been filled with challenges and triumphs. It hasn’t been easy, but each obstacle has only fueled my determination to succeed. I’ve overcome challenges by staying resilient, surrounding myself with a supportive community, and never losing sight of my goals.
Along the way, I’ve learned the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and self-belief. These lessons have shaped me not only as a dancer but as a person, teaching me resilience in the face of adversity and the value of hard work and dedication.
What I want the world to know about me is that my dance is more than just movement—it’s a reflection of my soul, my experiences, and my dreams. Through my art, I strive to inspire others to embrace their passions, follow their dreams, and never be afraid to dance to the rhythm of their own hearts.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Food- Laurel Hardware, Granville, Annie’s Soul Delicious, Alta, The Linden, Hilight Room, Joey’s, Castaway, Fixins, and CEA-LO just to name a few.
Drink- Trunks, The Abbey, and all of the above.
Visit- Depends on the friend who is visiting but for sure Runyon Canyon, Hollywood Sign, Walk of Fame, just to get the touristy stuff out the way. If there is an EverydayPpl or Black Market Flea, would definitely take them out to experience the vibe of Black music and culture present in LA.
There’s always something happening in LA!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my family for unwavering support, my teachers/mentors who poured information and instilled a work ethic into me, my friends who are pursuing/achieving their goals who serve as an inspiration and my students who are a constant reminder that my experiences only aide in making their dreams a reality.
