We had the good fortune of connecting with LaLa B and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaLa, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite affirmation that I live by is “This is happening for you, not to you”. I repeat this to myself the most during difficult times so that I don’t allow myself to be a victim of my circumstances. I’m a true believer that everything happens for a reason; whether it is positive or negative, a set back or a come up. There’s a lesson to be learned in every experience that we have in our lifetimes. So, when things aren’t going the way I intended or I’m getting met with obstacles, I try to pause and ask myself “what is this situation trying to show me? What lesson can I take from this so that I can avoid this problem in the future?”
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I’m most proud of about my business is that I was able to incorporate parts of my spirituality into my work. When I first started getting into spirituality, I started out with learning about crystals and their healing properties. There’s so many different types of crystals and they all have several different healing abilities, so working with them in the jewelry I create is an added benefit to my products. Everything I create has an intention behind it, whether it’s spiritual protection, self love/confidence or balancing emotions. My favorite part of what I do is hearing from customers how my waist beads make them feel more beautiful, sensual and in their feminine energy. That’s the biggest compliment I could ever receive; to know that my creativity and ase has positively impacted women from around the world. I’m really excited for all the new things I’ll be bringing to my business this year, and intertwining more of my spiritual practices into the products I offer.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Most definitely the Botanical Garden, I love plants and flowers (even though I don’t have the best green thumb). There’s so much beauty there and it reminds of a place in my hometown San Diego called Japanese Friendship Garden. We like to eat so going on a food tour is a must, and absolutely hitting up a few different botanicas for different spiritual products.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I first want to shout out my mother Shaunte Brown and aunt Jennifer Cunningham. They were two of the first people that led me into self development and encouraged me to start my business. They continue to encourage me to show up for myself daily and have paid it forward so many times when it came to investing in myself as a business owner and my personal growth. Next, I want to shout out my best friend Davia Holland. She’s been a huge support to me throughout so many phases in my life, and I can not thank her enough for always rocking with me. She’s always there to speak life into me when my cup is running low and encourages me to be proud of every aspect of myself.
Lastly, I’d like to shout out my coven family, Haus of Blanco and our beloved coven mother Dr. Jzajaidah Huskey; lovingly known as “Muva Blanco”. I’ve had the privilege of meeting this group of women at the very beginning of my spiritual journey and the love, guidance and support they’ve shown me is truly unmatched. I’ll forever thank my ancestors for aligning me with my coven family. They’ve helped and motivated me to be my most authentic self and own and recognize my divinity.
I’m truly blessed to be surrounded by so many powerful and successful women from all walks of life. For that, I give the most thanks to Spirit for the amazing support system I have.
