We had the good fortune of connecting with Lakeya Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lakeya, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I NEEDED A WAY OUT!!! Being on section 8 with 3 kids was not what I envisioned for myself. I wanted more. I was a city carrier walking mail walking pass big houses daily like what do I need to do to get where I needed to be or in a house this big. I was running numbers saying to myself if I work 100 hours it would get me more money, but less time with my children.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started off walking mail for the United States postal service. I was on section 8 and had 3 kids. I was spending so much time at the post office I never got to see my children. I was sad and body hurting. I kept watching Ashley on fb and decided it was my turn to invest in myself. It was the best decision I ever made. I made my first 20k in one month and there was no turning back. I had started my credit repair company in 2020 and it took off. I later got into business credit, turo, Airbnb and mentoring others. It all started with me learning how to read a credit report and finding inaccuracies that were not supposed to be on peoples credit profiles. I master that and started teaching classes. I looked up and made my first 106k in one year. The best month I ever had was when I make 41k in 30 days and that was my salary for the post office for the year. It was not easy to study and learn so much information but I took my time I executed what I had learned and was able to help myself off section 8 and help over 30 people close on houses. I even brought myself a 4 bedroom 2 bath beautiful home. I want the world to know no matter what always bet on you. Put yourself first and never give up. It’s other ways to make money besides working long hours away from your family. I was all my kids had and I wanted them to have the best life I could give them. I overcame challenges by staying up late reading and studying and putting in ground work to the point where I’m making money without having to work so hard. I have over 7 streams of income versus one and wouldn’t trade this for anything in the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were to come on a week long trip with me I would take her to Dubai. I would want to explore the Land have dinner in the sky and make the very most out of the beautiful things I see on tv. I would want to meet Shaquille O’Neal he is very smart and business savvy. I would want to take pictures in the Deserts with a camel and enjoy the sand n high winds.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ashley Grayson. I seen this young black beautiful woman posting daily Receipts of other successful woman and I just had to take a chance and invest in myself. She gave me the extra push to believe in myself and work for myself and not be afraid to live out loud and put in the hard work for myself.
