We had the good fortune of connecting with Lakeeta Ladson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lakeeta, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I proudly represent the low country of SC. I was born in Augusta, GA but raised in the rural area of Georgetown, SC’. I was raised by two black college graduates who obtained their degrees in the mist of social injustice. I attended an all black elementary, middle and high school where I had the pleasure of being taught by a predominantly black teaching staff. My upbringing influenced my desire to provide my services in rural areas where specialized healthcare like speech therapy services was minimal to none.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Complete Speech Therapy while pregnant with my daughter January 2014. We serve the pediatric and adult populations of South And North Carolina virtually and face to face. What sets us apart is our mission to not only help the client with their communication and feeding issues, but the entire family with wellness health services in order to improve the holistic health and wellness of men, women and children. To get where I’ve come at present has been very challenging. This is due to the financial investments required starting the business without a start up loan, as well as learning how to run the practice without much assistance from anyone at that time. I overcame these challenges with prayer and patience, and the lessons Ive learned are not to hire family, not to over pay staff in the very beginning of starting a business, and to never give up when the going gets tough but to step away from it for a while, then come back to address any issues after rest and frustration.

Complete Speech therapy & Wellness only hires therapist and personal trainers with a passion for what they do, and not just the desire to collect a check. Our clients get top notch speech therapy services in addition to caregiver education that further assists our clients in reaching their goals!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If me and my best friend had a week to venture the ATL, I would first make reservations at my favorite condo in Peachtree Towers! That way we are smack in the middle of the city. We would probably visit The Georgia Aquarium, the Atlanta Zoo, and The Trap Museum Atlanta.

I’d make it my business to visit The Linniethia Lounge one of our nights to have drinks and hear great music.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes out to my parents William & Wanella Ladson. They raised me to the best of their abilities during a time when it was very hard for minorities to flourish in business and career success in the south, yet their impact on my life encouraged me to always shoot for the stars! I also want to shout out my brother Mr. William Ladson, Jr who passed last year August 2020. He was my best friend and biggest supporter in all I ever made an attempt to achieve my entire life.
