We had the good fortune of connecting with Lakair Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lakair, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Growing up in poverty and one of the most urban parts of Orlando, FL (also known as the “projects”), I wasn’t taught the importance of having life insurance neither was it a topic that my parents discussed with me, to the point where they did not have any coverage for themselves nor for us as children. All I seen was when someone dies, we would have car washes, fish fry’s, fundraisers, buy t-shirts, and collect donations from everyone in order to burry our loved ones. Having to personally deal with the death of my mother, one of my brother’s, my grandmother, and one of my best friends in which no one had life insurance, is what made me pursue a career in life insurance and all the additives that goes along with it such as retirement planning, tax preparation, and building generational wealth.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Here at Taylor’s Financial Solutions, we take pride and focus on delivering quality service with the highest level of integrity, respect, honesty, communication, and customer service. We provide affordable life insurance products that help our clients secure their most valuable human and financial assets, we are one of the first minority woman owned life insurance agencies that not only provide life insurance products, but we also assist our clients with personal and business tax preparation. When deciding to do business with TFS, you can rest assured that your personal information is being handled with an increased level of security and confidentiality.

Through countless hours of research, study, and networking Taylor’s Financial Solutions has been able to make our mark in the insurance and tax preparation industry. Behind every great company is a team of like-minded individuals who, collectively has the same objective in mind. We do not claim to be perfect in everything we do, and we understand that we can never stop learning or growing so we embrace every challenge and obstacle with transparency and integrity. In doing so, we’ve learned that nothing comes easy but through hard work, dedication, and persistency anything is possible.

On our journey as a company, we have learned that there will always be educational moments that we could all learn from. When things don’t go as planned it’s a good idea to regroup, collect your thoughts, and try it again. One unfortunate event or situation does not define who you are individually or collectively.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Having my best friend in town with me for a week will give us plenty of time to explore the city life and enjoy what this beautiful city has to offer. We would definitely enjoy some seafood at The Pirates Boil, The Boiler Atlanta and on those days when we want take out seafood we would grab something from Infusion Crab ATL. We would enjoy good food and music at Cirque Restaurant, Slush, and Frost Bistro. As far as brunch is concerned, it is a must that we enjoy Linnethia Lounge. No trip to Atlanta will be complete without visiting the historic birth house of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, taking a tour of the Big Bethel AME Church and the Coca Cola factory. Since we also love to shop, we would definitely visit The Phipps mall and make sure visit Dantanna’s while in the area. For those days where we want to network and get to meet new business and like-minded people, we would visit the New Black Wall Street in Stonecrest, GA.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Above all, I would like to attribute all my success and learning opportunities to my Lord and personal Saviour Jesus Christ. Next, I would like to shout out my husband for standing with me even when I said and made moves that wasn’t the smartest, he supported every idea that I came up with whether it made sense or not. He’s been there and seen me at my lowest points during this process and it would naturally make sense for him to be there with me at the top. To my children for believing in me and trusting that everything I did (and do) is for them to be able to enjoy the finer things in life that I wasn’t afforded at their age without doing things I wasn’t too proud of doing. For everyone else that played a part in my journey to success, good, bad, or indifferent, I thank you all! If it had not been for all that I’ve been through, I wouldn’t be where I am today!
