We had the good fortune of connecting with Lafonda Hardy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lafonda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The reason I started my own brand was to create a platform where I have the freedom to speak openly about the topics that matter to me, without being filtered or confined by external limitations. My goal is to stand for something meaningful, rather than being boxed in with others, especially in the world of podcasting. I am passionate about focusing on the positive aspects of people’s lives and providing them with a platform to promote and discuss their achievements. There are so many individuals out there doing incredible things that often go unnoticed, and I want to shine a light on their stories and contributions.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Successful Toy Podcast is a unique and successful brand that I’m incredibly proud of. What sets us apart is our commitment to positivity and authentic storytelling. While many podcasts dive into drama and sensationalism, Successful Toy Podcast focuses on the inspiring stories of individuals who are making a difference. We provide a platform for these voices, highlighting the amazing work that often goes unnoticed.
Getting to where I am today with Successful Toy Podcast has been a journey of dedication and resilience. It wasn’t easy—there were challenges, including self-doubt, the need to build an audience from scratch, and navigating the complexities of podcasting. However, I overcame these obstacles by staying true to my vision and being persistent. I’ve learned the importance of staying authentic, understanding your audience, and never compromising on your values.
The lesson I carry with me is that success is not just about numbers or fame, but about the impact you make and the stories you tell. I want the world to know that Successful Toy Podcast is more than just a show; it’s a movement to celebrate positivity and the incredible things people are doing in their lives. My story and brand are about breaking free from the confines of negativity and focusing on the good in the world, one story at a time.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Funny enough, even though I’m originally from Florida, I now live in North Carolina, and if a friend were to visit, I’d honestly have to check TikTok for recommendations on fun spots! I’m still learning the area myself, so I’m not exactly the go-to guide for local attractions just yet.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a heartfelt shoutout to my kids—Bryant, Dekevis, and Ja’Corey. Without them, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I’ve learned so much from the challenges and mistakes I’ve faced while raising them, and their presence in my life has been invaluable. A special shoutout also goes to my partner, Natalie, for always being my support system and my “mini investor,” as I like to call her. Her unwavering support has made all the difference.
