Meet Lacey Black | Make Up Artist & Podcast Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lacey Black and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lacey, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I wanted to enhance the inner beauty that often gets lost in the hustle and bustle of womanhood. Imagine the most realist, strongest, wisest person in your life — Most likely that person is a woman. Woman are the breadwinners, the child barers, the head of the house and the backbone to most dynamics. Taking care of home, life, bills, kids, and dreams? That’s the most GANGSTA thing anyone can do! In a world where the modern woman has to do it all, Their looks can be the last of their concern. That’s where G Code comes in by creating a safe space for those women to vent and relax while I create a look that highlights their beauty. Getting your glam done by G Code Cosmetics allows you to have a artist who lends their heart to encourage, lends their ear to listen, their shoulder to cry, their words of wisdom and their voice to celebrate your wins!

What should our readers know about your business?
G Code Cosmetics is the brand behind my makeup artistry! I set out to be different from competition by providing both a individualized experience and look tailored specifically to each client’s unique features. By no means has it been easy but I have not once ever been plagued with the thought to give up. If one way didn’t work, I was already on to the next three different methods to attract clientele. I got to where I am in by doing calculated hard work. Many will tell you to grind, few will tell you to study the outcomes. Not only to survive but, To thrive in this economy, you have to trial and error while keeping record of the results. Compare what works vs. what didn’t. Continue with the positive outcome. Be Open to new methods, Then REPEAT! It all over again. This process is the main contributor to my success. To take a company struggling to get free models in the door to now servicing hundreds of clients a year has been my most proud moment! I am more than excited for my newest business venture, “… And That’s Okay!” a Podcast show of empathy to the human mind. Each episode, we explore the feelings, experiences and expert opinions of our guest with the goal of understanding. In hindsight, the show will be very similar to a glam appointment with me minus the glitz and glamour! Stay Tuned for the release this year!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, I’d have to bring them to eat the best pasta in the city at Hungry AF and Drinks must be had at Pretti Plates Brunch Bar. My favorite thing is to get cute and take pictures so a session would be booked at CreativeBlockAtl to curate content with their different backdrops. Atlantic station + Movies for the chill vibes. As far as for the club, MJQ on Ponce De Leon is unmatched in terms of fun and freedom. I’m also half Egyptian so I’d love to show them a Pharaohs Palace for the Filet Mignon Beef Kabob and traditional belly dancers!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I know to shoutout your family is a bit cliché but truly my mother, father and sisters have shown me a unwavering level of support on this insane chicken chase I’ve been on! I’d also like to shoutout my social media supporters! Lastly, I’d like to shoutout the creative directors & photographers I’ve worked with @Danielmphotography2996 @Grizzlythephotographer @Poiemavision_atl @Rissawrld @Primetimexpro and @_Iconicent for helping me capture my artistry.
