We had the good fortune of connecting with L.O.R.D. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi L.O.R.D., what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was in prison with 29 years to serve. Providing for my family was imperative! So I did what I could given the circumstances.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started writing books during the two decades that I spent wrongfully convicted. After realizing how hard it was to get published, I started my own company from behind bars (Go Get It Publishing). I’ve only been home for four months. However, two weeks ago I learned that over 100 mainstream media outlets and organizations in the book and business world reprinted/published the story about my current novel “Momma Bear” and my personal life.

Hard work, dedication, and sacrifice is how I managed to put myself in position. It definitely wasn’t easy. Discipline and patience is how I overcame many of the challenges that I encountered throughout my journey. The aforementioned would also be the most valuable lessons that I learned along the way.

I want the world to know that twenty
years in prison for a crime that I didn’t
Commit didn’t break me or my entrepreneurial spirit. Instead,it brought the best out of me!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d eat at Laisla restaurant 2779 Dixwell Ave.

We would drink at Harps Bar & Grill

We’ would hang out at various pool halls and casinos

Some of the most fun things to do are hanging out with friends at public events like concerts etc.

The most exciting people to be around are entrepreneurs who are actively grinding

New York City and the carribean are my favorite places to visit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As unconventional as this may sound, I have to pay homage to my old-heads who raised me in the cocaine infested era of the 80’s. Although it was the wrong hustle, that’s where I learned the fundamentals of business, and studying them is how I developed my leadership skills.
