We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyra Harts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyra, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose to pursue modeling as a career because modeling allows me to be creative, it allows me to embrace myself, it allows me to be confident in myself and it allows me to meet and work with all these amazing people in the Industry….I love modeling all the lovely designers clothing, I love being apart of all the wonderful fashion shows and doing creative photoshoots, I also love traveling with it. I have been modeling since I was 9 years old and my goal in life is to continue to pursue modeling as I get older and do big things with it such as being apart of Paris/London/Milan Fashion Week, Hosting my own fashion shows, hopefully to one day be my own designer, being in the big magazines, etc..This is something I love to do and something that could never be taken away from me. Shoutout to all my model family for believing In me and kept me going when I wanted to give up on modeling. I Love y’all! It’s so much more to say about it, but I’ll leave it at this for now.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is definitely my mindset and how I think. I manage to keep A’s and B’s in school, working in the modeling industry, being in a movie as a teen lead, being in Girl Scouts. My mind is focused on my future, graduating high school, and knowing what I want to be when I grow up which is a Lawyer. Something I’m really excited about is being accepted to walk in NYFW in September(3 shows at that). I’m definitely proud of my self for managing to keep a 3.75 GPA while doing all of this. It can definitely be a challenge at times but I still manage it. Modeling has definitely been a challenge for me, I get overlooked, treated differently, talked about because I’m mixed and that’s why I wanted to give up on modeling, I thought because I was mixed, I didn’t belong, but over the years I have learned that being mixed is such a beautiful thing and I can’t let no one doubt my worth, but I had to learn that people are going to always criticize me and talk down about me in the industry as I get older but I have to learn to just say Ok and keep going, don’t let it get to me. I’m not going to let people doubt me or have me thinking I’m not good enough for the industry. I’ve come along way for me to just be done. No matter what obstacles or challenges I face in this industry, I just brush it off and tell myself “you got this Kyra, you can’t give up, you’ve come too far”. Like they say “You won’t succeed unless you fail….you shouldn’t just give up because you have failed or because of the obstacles you faced” Accomplishing your dreams means facing hard core challenges and going through all the obstacles. You have to work for what you want; That’s something valuable I’ve learned in the industry. Modeling has definitely been a challenge for me, but I just keep pushing through. Remember *Failure will always come before Success*

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely wanna shoutout my modeling family for being there for me, kept me going when I wanted to give up and most definitely being my cheerleaders and supporters.Another main person I wanna shoutout is my mother(Michelle Harts) where none of this would even be possible without her, she’s definitely my biggest supporter. I also wanna give a shoutout to someone special, her name is Fatima Smith, she is the one who introduced me to Modeling and got me started with it, I was apart of her fashion show which was my very first fashion show and ever since then I just loved it.
