We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyra Carey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyra, how do you think about risk?
I never really used to be a risk taker until i realized I needed to live my life for me. If you’re too worried about how others will perceive you, then you aren’t really living for you or living to your true potential. When I started taking risks everything started to align the way i wanted. If I wouldn’t haven taken a risk this year I would have never gotten the opportunity to work with MTV this year. I would have never gotten to be on Double Shot at Love and meet all of the amazing people that I did and everything since that has been working out in my favor! I’m still getting to meet wonderful people. I’ve encountered many new opportunities by taking that risk as well!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I’m not fighting for one man on TV with other women I am a live streamer! Live streaming has been such an amazing outlet for meeting new people and learning new things daily. I’ve been streaming off and on since 2017 and I never knew when I first started my stream in July of 2017 that I would be where I am today meeting so many wonderful people. I never knew the impact that sharing my day or life with other people would have on me or even them for that matter! When people tell me I keep them going or they’re happy they met me because I brighten up their day or that I’m there for them when they feel no one else is that’s really the best feeling. I never realized how even and hour of me just hanging out on stream would effect so many people positively. Starting out is never easy. You get nasty comments from people, you may only have one active talker sometimes but it’s really such an amazing way to interact when you do find those people who stick around. They people I’ve met from streaming alone are friends for life. They always support everything I do and I’m so happy to have met them. They have changed my life just as much as I’ve changed theirs. Streaming has taught me you’re not going to be everyones cup of tea but as long as you stay true to who you are you will find your place and your people.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Most of my friends and I really love dive bars. Especially ones with the old jukeboxes in them! So we always make sure to get our $1 beers in the dingiest bars. Then we would go to a karaoke bar. The next day brunch of course. I also really love the aquarium. It’s one of my favorite places to be other than the beach so I always make sure to go when I’m in town. I love people watching as well and I’m grateful to know people who also enjoy doing that. Local coffee spots or boba spots are the perfect places to catch up and people watch at!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be anywhere without the support from my mom LaShonda, my dad Eric, and my sister Kendall as well as the rest of my family. They have always supported anything I’ve ever wanted to do without hesitation and I wouldn’t be here today without them.
