We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyera Perry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kyera, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
I have learned that for every no there are a million and one yeses. When I left teaching to enter a sales career as a Realtor, my mindset was that of fear. Fear of rejection, fear of being turned away, but when I began to change my mindset to focus on an expected end rather than a tumultuous one my world opened up and so many doors began to open. God is true to his Word when he promises to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we can ask think or imagine. We just have to be willing to get out of our own way. Yes, in entrepreneurship you can’t win them all, but I believe for the best now and as a result my business has thrived.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In 2016, I was teaching 4th grade and this was my second year in the classroom. Something within me began to feel like this space was no longer for me and I felt extremely guilty about it. I had believed I would be an Educator from the early age of 14. I began to continuously hear about real estate. Since I wasn’t happy with teaching. I decided to terminate my teaching contract and pursue a career in Education but rather outside of the classroom and I planned to get a real estate license to be able to earn part time income. The job I had didn’t work out as planned, and at the beginning of 2017, my friend decided she wanted to buy a home. She closed on her home that summer and it gave me the confidence to step into a career as a Realtor fulltime. Once I sold her home, I thought it would be easy thereafter, but that was the hardest time I had up until that point. I hadn’t realized that becoming a Realtor was actually entrepreneurship and I would have to generate leads to build my business. At the time, I was completely introverted and did not believe I had what it took to be a salesperson, but I had no choice. I didn’t have any other options. I had no money and eventually had to move in with family. After one of Keller Williams signature training classes called BOLD, the light bulb finally went off. I accepted that in order to expand I had to be willing to step out of my comfort zone. I also realized it was my brand so I could run it my way and did not have to be like anyone else. I knew I was good at planning and teaching and I began to host homebuying seminars. I also realized I had a huge support system and began to mail business card magnets to everyone I know. This is how I built my business and still to this day I earn most of my business from referrals and real estate events I host. The business began to finally take off in 2019. To this day, this is still one of the most challenging things I have done and it does not get easier. However, I have learned how to navigate the challenges much better by creating boundaries. For example, I now take Sunday’s off. That was very hard for me to do in the beginning. I felt like I had to take every opportunity and now I know that what is meant for me will be. I stand out as an agent because I have been unexpectedly able to carry a lot of what I learned those first two years teaching into my real estate career. I am professional, nurturing, and encouraging. I breakdown the process for my clients to help them best prepare for the process with efficient buyer and listing consultations. I am very resourceful and am able to connect my client to any business they will need throughout the process from mortgage lenders, real estate attorneys, home security, contractors, and so much more. I am also not a transactional agent, I establish relationships with my clients that last beyond the sale and/or purchase of their home. I want the world to know I did not get here on my own, it took the grace of God and my entire village to build the Regal Realty brand. We guarantee a regal experience for all of our clients and this work isn’t easy, but it is very rewarding.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I have to shout God for His vision and plan that was greater than mine that led me down a path with so much uncertainty and unknowns, but has reaped such great reward. My Team Leader, Terrell Patton and Mentor Patricia Watson helped to cultivate my business from the beginning which is why I have grown leaps and bounds in the last 7 years. They have kept me motivated and continue to pour into me to this day as does my entire Keller Williams family. Also, my mom who is my biggest cheerleader.
