Meet Kwanza Cole | Private Chef

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kwanza Cole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kwanza, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
One thing outsiders isn’t aware of is that being a chef isn’t for the weak hearted. The thing that makes it unaware is the fact that food is made with love not just hands. Being a chef is something that comes from the soul not the hands.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of definitely being on several tv shows because I knew I made it not just for me but for others in my field. I worked really hard to make it to where I am now and it wasn’t easy at all i definitely struggled along the way. I sung and cooked my way through it all. I am self taught and I never really went to culinary school but I definitely learned from watching & applying everything I learned.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to one of my favorite restaurants K&K soul food. We would eat good and afterwards we would go enjoy a view of the city of Atlanta. Next day we would definitely get up an go for a drive through the city and go to the black history museum. I love just being able to learn from the people that came before me. Lastly I would definitely make sure they get some of the best cooking from there Bff.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout would definitely be given to a chef I grew up watching Emeril. Emeril was who I spent countless of hours watching him in the afternoon. Chef Alex was also a chef I looked up to who I wanted to be alike. He was a great inspiration.
