We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristy Ventre and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristy, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
I like to think that no one ever really gives up. Giving up means settling or stopping the dream. In my own experience, you have to keep going.

What should our readers know about your business?
Ventre’s Adventures started as an international travel company. We created transformative learning experiences and college readiness programs that challenge both your cultural and personal comfort zones. Each program is carefully designed to target specific learning goals enhancing your ability to prepare for higher education. Forget big buses and generic vibes! That’s not our style. We practice sustainability as we partner with local businesses and give back to the local community through service. We’re here to not only create experiences that will shape your future, but also to have you learn from people who will impact your life. We’ll give you those “gram-worthy” moments, a sense of nomadic camaraderie, and the confidence to pursue your dreams. That’s what set us apart from all other companies–then COVID happened. COVID forced me to change my company. We were already successfully enrolling all of our international trips, but we were no longer able to travel abroad. In March 2020, I completely revamped, redesigned, and reintroduced Ventre’s Adventures. There were definitely a lot of tears involved. I was stressed, yet determined, and I wasn’t going to let a pandemic ruin my dreams of providing amazing experiences for people. In May, I launched Unleashed in the Southeast: adventure day trips in Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee for both students and adults 21 & up. We still continue to work with small businesses, and provide adrenaline filled experiences such as hang gliding, white water rafting, caving, etc. I turned my international travel company into an outdoor adventure company, and it absolutely soared. Turns out that the outdoors is the perfect solution for those suffering from anxiety, depression, and/or boredom. In fact, we are doing so well that I actually had to hire people to help me! We are expanding once more at the end of September, and I couldn’t be more excited. Although if you would have asked me back in March if I would have seen this coming, the answer would be no. However I am a big believer in the fact that road blocks are actually positives. It’s all about perspective.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family. In fact, three every day business principles come from them: Passion—from my mom. Her fierce, take no prisoners, stand behind you always is amazing. Passion fuels our purpose. Kindness—from my brother. A truly forgotten quality, but he is the ultimate example. A big reason why Ventre’s Adventures is so successful is because we have treated every traveler and business partner with the type of kindness my brother exemplifies. Optimism—my dad. Holy cow, this man is never in a bad mood. A global pandemic stops your business? You’ll figure it out. Super stressed? You got this! With every mishap, I think of my dad, take a deep breath, and problem solve.
