We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristy Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristy, what role has risk played in your life or career?

I heard and trusted the voice of God to take the biggest risk of my life. By standing on my faith to bring life back into a desolate place, in order for the people of God to come and worship him. This is how Stand To Be Different Birthing Center came about, with no money, but a vision from the Lord and five members. I was able to produce the will of God, in a place that should have been condemned, the roof  and the floors were caving in,  and the yard was overgrown with weeds.

But God, told me to rehab this place of worship for his people, to have a safe haven and to be able to give him all the praise and glory. And not only that, we were able to produce shirts, hats, and bags, in order to sustain the ministry. I am glad I took this risk and came off my job after ten years, because something great came out of all of this.

Now, if I could encourage anybody today: I would tell them, do not let your fears make you not take the risks, because you will never know how it will all come out.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My mentorship and leadership sets me apart from others. Because of God and Christ Jesus, I got here by trusting them, and not giving up hope. And I would not take no for an answer.

I want people to know that no matter where you come from: it does not predict your future, and this is the lesson I learned no matter how hard it is, never give up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to City Walk, next we would have lunch at Miller’s Steakhouse, then we would do some shopping at the Oaks Mall. And to end this trip, we will go to Sunday Service at STBD.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
