We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristopher Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristopher, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the most important factor behind the success of my brand is my resilience and inability to accept anything less for myself than greatness. The growth I’ve seen on both social platforms & my art I credit to my want to be great at these things. With social media I want to inspire, educate, or just make someone laugh so when I create from that perspective it kept me from caring about numbers, often as human beings we tend to base the success of something on a number but the number has little to do with the actual thing. There were times the content I created did not receive as much attention as it does now but that did not stop me because it was not my focus. I create with the intention of affecting one and often I feel we can get so caught up in the many that we cant appreciate one. In my perspective if you cant appreciate one how will you be able to appreciate many? Resilience to never stop no matter what the physical showed and focus on the end goal while having appreciation for my present I feel got me to where I am now and will take me even further.
Not accepting anything from myself but to be great at what I take on is out of respect for myself as well as my family, God, and ancestors that have come before me. I see the struggles and obstacles those before me have had to deal with, Im blessed to have been born in a generation where none of those things affect me. With that always in the back of my mind there is no way I can accept anything less than greatness and act on that premise with everything I do.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art occupies a space between my love for cinematography and photography. I feel I dedicate equal time to both and what I’ve learned through studying filmmaking has made me a better photographer and vice versa. I feel what sets me a part is how eclectic I am when It comes to my interest in art, fashion, music, and design. There is nothing that I want at least give a try when it comes to these things so I feel it enables me to mix many styles to create the style which I like to call cinematic photography. When I go out to create a photo I have the idea in mind to create something that looks as if it can be a still in a movie. When Im filming I compose the framing of whatever I am shooting as if I’m taking a photo and consider the same elements I would if were a photo. I am most excited about the future. Everyday is a new day to grow and become better than the last so I grow excitement everyday about what I may do tomorrow. Art is something to me that cannot be mastered so the fun comes from always seeing yourself become better as time goes on. I would not say that it was easy to get to where I am but at the same time I do not think it was hard. I would use the term challenging. When I view things as a challenge instead of it being hard it keeps my energy towards the thing thats challenging in a good space and I do not become intimidated by it. Hard to me is an intimidating word that can cause one not to create. I overcame the challenges by constantly telling myself literally everyday whether I was creating or good at something that I will get to the point where Im creating everyday or I will get better at a task overtime. That constant soothing of myself kept me going and able to withstand the emotional rollercoasters you go on when pursuing a new venture. Especially something like art where you as the artist are able to compare yourself to work that got you inspired to begin with. You have to know that you will achieve the level that inspires you, in time. The biggest lesson Ive learned along the way is Take peace in delayed gratification and not instant. We as humans like instant gratification because it’s instant, we all have wants and we want them now. Especially in the social media age where you can post and instantly get attention and pleasure. But as I grew as an artist the perspective was given to me that delayed gratification far more outweighs instant. I learned that things that come quick do not last because they have not had their time to be nurtured. I view things and actions I take like seeds. You plant and in time you receive the harvest. You don’t plant a seed and get the tree now. I view my life from that perspective. What I do, what I create and what I say may not instantly come to life now but I know all my actions are seeds being planted that I’ll one day see harvest from. Learning this and knowing keeps me actively doing something towards a future goal although I may not see instant fruit from the actions. I trust and know that as I nurture all that I do must grow. What I want people to know about my brand and my story is that everything I say of myself I see in others and I want them to see my story and be inspired by the things I do and know that they can do it to My brand as it grows will always be centered around the philosophy of letting the world know that the possibilities for their lives are limitless. .
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It depends on what city Im in. I live in San Diego California though so I would take them to the beach every morning to watch the sunrise. SD has cliffs and beaches that have some of the best sunrises I’ve seen so thats a great way to start the day. Then we’d go to the gym, after have lunch. During the week I would take them to the various dope places around the city and sights that I feel are worth seeing. Living in so cal is clutch because within like a 4hr driving radius we have all the climates. I live in the beach scene, 2 hours from me is dessert that looks like you’re in Dubai. There is snow in the mountains I think 3 hours away. Food wise its such a diverse place Id take them to dinner every night at a different ethnic groups restaurant.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
