Meet Koya Webb | Holistic Health and Wellness Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Koya Webb and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Koya, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Lifestyle Design is all about being intentional about living a healthy lifestyle and working in areas that are in harmony with your purpose. My mission is to live this lifestyle and inspire others to do the same.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
When I graduated college I moved to California and became a personal trainer at 24 hour fitness. I loved helping people reach their fitness goals but one day a client told me that they wanted to talk instead of workout and I realized I loved listening to people’s stories and helping people find different solutions in their life outside of fitness so a year later I became a life coach at the age of 25. It was very fulfilling, but also a very draining career at this age.
I moved to California to train for the Olympics in the heptathlon, training with Ron Sheffield at San Diego State University. After getting injured for the second time, I went back to yoga to heal, but this time I got my certification and became a certified yoga teacher. I also always wanted to model, so I moved to Los Angeles from San Diego and started my modeling career with Sports and Lifestyle Unlimited as my agent. I had fun modeling and also started my acting career and attending shows like the Greg Berrant show as a life coach. I also did a couple of reality shows like 1 versus 100, Fear Factor and American gladiator. I had so much fun in this part of my career, but I also knew I didn’t wanna be a working actress. I did want to produce shows and play impactful roles but I felt like it was something that I would do later in life.
At this point, I also started to get passionate about building community and actually joined meetup.com and created 5 course dinner parties and meet ups on the beach for people to come together and play volleyball. Eventually I started the community Get Loved Up to encourage people to practice self love, social justice and eco-friendly living.
In 2008, I founded the Get Loved Up holistic health and yoga teacher training school to certify other yoga teachers, especially people of color. I started holding certifications in Airbnbs is an resorts around the world and when the pandemic hit, I took the yoga teacher training school online. October 2023 will be the first in person training since the pandemic.
As I evaluated my life and my company in 2021, I realized that a lot of my alumni needed support with their businesses so I created lifestyle design and started teaching spirituality, wellness and entrepreneurship via my membership, masterclasses and 1 on 1 coaching. Beyond wellness entrepreneurship which I offered during my yoga teacher training I started to share how building an online community and offerings could provide the impact and income most of my community was seeking.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We will definitely have breakfast at atlanta’s vegan breakfast. lunch at slutty vegan and dinner at Planta.
We would hit the mountains for a hike, hang out at Ponce city market and maybe a late night of dancing at rocksteady
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout out to my spiritual mother and spiritual father, Queen Afua and Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith. Queen Afua has been a huge part of my wellness journey and she has helped me heal in many areas of my life. Rev. Michael has been a big part of my spiritual growth and evolution and has helped me practice life visioning and follow divine guidance in every area of my life.
