We had the good fortune of connecting with Kisha Renee Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kisha Renee, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business focuses on starting and sustaining consulting businesses. We work with dynamic black executives and stand-out entrepreneurs to inspire marginalized and stagnant blacks in Corporate America through realistic versions of success. We encourage black professionals to share their message and movements with the world and thus become profitable thought leaders who launch online programs, write books, and create training programs for large corporate teams.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets my marketing firm, Creative Umbrella Consulting and Articulate Your Voice thought leadership accelerator apart is that we do not expect our clients and students to fit into a blueprint that is predestined. We help them create systems that are designed to amplify their expertise and experience. I am proud that we have helped hundreds of clients reach 6 and 7 figures. It’s not all about money, but it takes money to provide for your family and build a legacy. It makes me proud to be a part of professionals building and launching businesses. Nothing worth having is easy. If it were easy, everyone would be billionaires. I worked hard in corporate America. No sales leadership role is easy. I toiled for 12 years and learned many valuable lessons. I overcame challenges in corporate America as I do today as an entrepreneur. I lean on my faith and core values as a foundation for all of my initiatives. The delegation of projects, taking care of my mental and physical health, and adaptability have helped me excel. My biggest lesson to date has been to always be self-aware and to reflect often. I want people to see me as a regular person. I want them to look at me and say, “I can do whatever it is that I want to do.”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to Atlanta, for a week-long trip we’d visit the following places: The High Museum, Toast on Lenox, ride bikes on Silver Comet Trail, visit the Martin Luther King Monument, eat at Juicy Crab, and listen to live music at City Winery.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe my success to God. I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for his divine power.

Isaiah 41:10 – “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
