Meet Kimberly Card | Copey Creek: Owner and Operator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Card and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimberly, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My sister-in-law, Lindsey, planned her wedding on our family farm and afterwards we kept hearing about how much people really enjoyed the views and their time on our property. It really did spark an idea in our minds. At first, it seemed insane but over time and after much prayer and consideration, we decided to take the leap.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career started in elementary education and lasted for nine years. My time in the classroom offered up many opportunities for me to hone my communication skills. Interfacing positively with brides and grooms and their families has been such an important part of what I do. I’ve always had a creative side that I have been able to satisfy with portrait photography and digital art over the years. My eye for lighting, photography, and design has allowed me to bring worthy suggestions to the table when making plans with couples. With that being said, planning large scale events isn’t always easy. Couples and families with clashing ideas need gentle guidance and reminders to shift focus to what is most important. Namely, the marriage and all that it represents. In the wedding industry, stress is almost encouraged. I try to do everything that I can to derail that idea. Starting with the way we have formatted our wedding package, to the way I communicate, all the way to wedding execution.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our small town community offers things that the big city can’t. We have mom and pop shops, family owned restaurants, brands that celebrate our way of life, and local spots that showcase our mountain views. Anytime we have visitors that want to enjoy our area, we always eat out at Fender’s Alley, Midtown Grill, or Bigg Daddy’s. The shopping in Clarkesville is quaint and is definitely worth visiting. Our favorite brand is Of These Mountains and we love their adorable shop in town. Rahab’s Rope has truly incredible products that support a worth cause. We have countless trails, waterfalls, fishing spots, parks, rivers, and gorgeous back roads to travel that create an escape from hustle and bustle.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Copey Creek’s success is solely credited to the faithfulness of Jesus. Our hope in hosting weddings on our farm has always been that many would hear the truth of His word within the walls of our space. He has honored that desire in many ways.
