We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Mays and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kim, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am originally from New York but I have been living in Atlanta, GA since 1991, does that make me an Apple/Peach 🍑 or a Peach /Apple 🍎? Smile, God’s child, I have always believed in God but I didn’t want to obey his word and teachings. My mom is my inspiration and she shaped me into the woman I am today! God saved me and changed my mindset and gave me the courage to be the best person I can be, love in my heart for everyone!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally? My most proudest moment was when I walked across that stage and received my Bachelor’s degree in Administrative Management in 2018. It took me several years part-time. I lost my rock “mom” she passed of breast cancer. She was with me in spirit! My mom taught me to never give up and if you make a mistake, take it to God, he will fix it! Yes I had some challenges but I kept on praying 🙏 and I trusted God. My mindset and life changed for the better. If I had any advice to give it would be to obey God’s word, your parents and love unconditionally ❤! Help others and prayer changes things!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First I would invite my friend to listen to our church Hwy 20 Church of Christ phone line, Sunday morning, then I would make breakfast! For dinner I would ask her/him what they like, give them a choice and depending on what they say we would go out for dinner. There are so many nice restaurants in Georgia, for example, Cheesecake Factory, Red Crab House or Bahama Breeze.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First I want to give honor to God, without him I would not be here! My mom is my hero, she taught me to love, honor and respect others! She raised me and my children. I also want to praise my step-dad, he loved my mom and was there for us both. I will admit I was jealous, young and didn’t know much about God back then but I had a praying mother! She loved everyone, believed in and trusted God!
