We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiguta Francis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kiguta, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Discipline
I’m a firm believer of being disciplined leads to great progression and success. In the words of Bernard Law, discipline strengthens the mind so that it becomes impervious to the corroding influence of fear
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What i’d say sets me apart from others is proper planning. This might sound cliché but a lot is achieved when everything is premeditated before actualization. I’m mostly proud of my journey which involves growth. Many are the times a creative feels stagnant in their career but all you have to do is step back and see how far you’ve come and what you’re looking forward to achieving. Just like any other career there has been hurdles along the way and to some extent it has never been a walk in the park. I most definitely pray when faced with creative challenges. In addition, I tend not to be too hard on myself. I’ve learnt that every single day is a chance given for you to learn something new. I most definitely move with that lesson and will always take it to the bank. There is diversity in what I do but at the end of the day I just want to communicate to anyone out there through my art.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My city is rich in culture. There are so many places to visit including the National park where you get to enjoy game drives and spot the big five among other wild animals. We have museums and art galleries that shed light on our rich history and a conglomerate of different art pieces by different artists. You most definitely have to try various food joints in the city and get to immerse yourself in the flavor boasted by different meals. Did I mention how electric our nightlife is?
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God has guided me through and through so shoutout to him first. Secondly there are people who have contributed to my growth and who I am today. My family, for the immense support & my friends who’ve taught me life lessons and shown me what being a ‘creative’ entails.
