We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiera Metts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kiera, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was simply taking the limits off of my life and getting paid to do what I love and enjoy doing for free. Working for unappreciative businesses, constantly investing my creative assets making them more and more richer begin to ,are me very unhappy. I was unhappy with the limited pay that was barely enough to get me by and I was unhappy with just how much these company owners and policies really didn’t leave much room to truly balance home and work life.

What should our readers know about your business?
Being a business owner is both exciting and tedious. I paced myself before branching off under my own umbrella. I’ve always worked In the same field as my business and overtime I learned a lot of do’s and don’t. After realizing I didn’t wanted to be limited my passion became more personal, leading me to start my own brand. The thing that makes me most excited is to receive feedback from my clients. One of my love language is ” Acts of services” and I implemented that language into my brand. I began saving a percentage of my pay check about 2years before starting my brand so when the time came I was able to have a nice start up. What’s most challenging is not having a full team behind me helping push my brand and just keeping up with how advance the world has become and becoming more and more over time. But the lesson I’ve learned is to give it my all, continue to pace myself and eventually the vision I see for my brand will manifest into the natural. I take care of my brand so that my brand will take care of the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were in town we’d start off with a nice Hawks basketball game while enjoying a drink and expecting a Win. We’re both fans of chicken wings so Chances are we’ll go to one of our favorite wing restaurants. We enjoy new things that would consist of all new activities, something that neither one of us has experienced before and I enjoy cooking so once out activities are done for the day I’ll more than likely put together a nice southern soulfood meal. And then theirs the chill days where we may stay in and watching movies or try some new series on TV. Most of my friends are low key and it don’t take much to have a good time and I enjoy those kind of people because after all life is what we make it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out my siblings, my spouse and a few of my close friends. It’s very important to have a group of people willing to hold you accountable to and for your success. It’s also just as important when that group of people can also help push your brand with their own platform and resources. Constantly being positive and understanding to the frustration that owning your own company can bring.
