We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiera Hicks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kiera, how do you think about risk?
I personally feel like the term “risk” can be very intimidating. It can put fear into you if you let it, it can also prevent you from moving forward in life and progressing. Most only look at the negative and not the positive. Taking that risk that nobody else is willing to is a the key to success. Being able to get pushed out of your comfort zone, being able to attempt and not give up. Once you understand just how powerful taking a risk is you become a distractible. I’ve taken many risks in my business from attempting new styles to using social media as a platform to grow my clientele and not being afraid to continue learning. Without risk, I would have never gotten to the point in sucess that I am in now and I have continued to grow.

Growing up, ive always had a love for hair. Whether it was doing my own, a doll or family, i was always played in hair. I never really knew what i wanted to do or be however, i just knew i was a jack of all trades. For years i would try different things in different fields to see what would best suit me. At the age of 17 i realized my true passion was hair, I slowly began to perfect my craft and grow my clientele. By the age of 18 I officially decided to go to a trade school by the name of Aveda institute straight out of highschool to further my knowledge of hair and become the best i could possibly be. After 2 long years I graduated at the age of 20 and clientele has been flourishing ever since by the grace of God. I love every single thing about what I do from making people feel beautiful, giving people a shoulder to cry on, or just a escape from life in the moment I appreciate every single part.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Little do people know atlanta is filled with activities. For those of the who are foodies that like to hang ,throughout the week you can go to different restaurant/lounges such as fade and facet, lily’s,steakmarket, whiskey blue, mulano, and many more to choose from. For fun adventures and activities I recommend atlanta motorsports park, bowlero, the sipping plant, and decatur glass blowing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom plays a big role in how I maneuver my business, because of her I went to cosmetology school right after high school rather than just waiting. She let me do client in her dining room, as well as gave me an entire room to call my own suite when we moved. A lot of my opportunities came from her and i am extremely grated for all that shes done and continues to do for me.
