We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiaya Cash and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kiaya, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks is the only way to achieve your goals . If you want something new , you have to do something that you’ve never done .

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My musical journey began as a young child sitting in church musician rehearsals and studio sessions with my mother . She was a praise and worship leader and touring background vocalist at the time . Music came easy to me. It was second nature but I didn’t like to sing, go figure. Life led me to write and ]ournal about my experiences and those eventually turned into songs. I began singing as an professional background vocalist at the age of 13 and a solo artist by age 20. Although my musical background included my church roots I was more interested in secular genres. I took the risk of creating the music that related to my life experiences and that made it spiritual. I chose to be myself instead of going along with the status quote. Taking those risks led me to where I am today and Im glad I took that chance. I want the world to be able to listen to my music and find peace. I want my brand to bring light through infectious melodies.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta on a Sunday is always a vibe. Me and my friends would definitely start the day with brunch at Thumbs up diner. After brunch we would hit a coffee and bakery spot. Following that would be a stroll in little Five points which would include shopping at the local stores. Then we would finish the night on a rooftop overlooking the skyline and toasting to a wonderful day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my mother Kendra Cash and my Jacksonville, FL music family.
