We had the good fortune of connecting with Kia Edgehill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kia, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My business idea was birthed out of lack of self-identity. When I surrendered my life to Christ, August 2018, I strongly believed I was automatically healed, whole, and confident. However, deep down I struggled for so long viewing myself the way God sees me. After a year being swayed by my past, what the world said about me and what I said about myself, God completely stopped me in my tracks. He affirmed me that the old has past away, therefore I no longer need to see myself based on my past actions; He reminded me that He sees me as wonderful, as a treasure, more precious than rubies. He also reminded me of my worth, and my ability to hold myself with standards because I am a daughter of a King. Through this refining/molding process, I began gaining confidence and not just regular confidence but confidence in the Lord, that if He created me this way He will see me through. God gave me the idea of starting a women’s clothing brand with the sole purpose of reminding women where there identity should lie, affirming women of how valuable they are and creating a platform where women will feel safe to share and learn from other’s experiences.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My brand SheFavours sets me apart because I acknowledge that God is my CEO & I am just the manager. Remembering this helps me to not operate out of my own selfish gain, He would and always will get the Glory. I am most proud of myself for launching. I launched my business July 2020, in the middle of a pandemic and I began my committed YouTube journey March 2020. Both during such a rough period for myself and the world. However, I was determined to accomplish the goals set forth and stay submitted to God’s plan. Some lessons I’ve learned is to keep going even after a mistake was made, there is grace to get up and try again. I was often hard on myself for not posting a youtube video or hard on myself for not making any sales. I always got up and tried my very best the next day ! I want the world to be impacted by the goodness of God. I’m nowhere near where I desire to be but its only by His grace that I’m still standing. Every day is NOT easy but because I place my hope in the One who has conquered it all, the journey continues.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I actually just moved to the Atlanta area, so I’m still getting familiar with the city. Our week would begin with us going to Chick-Fil-A, thats our favorite spot to eat, I would take her downtown Atlanta, explore the streets, try new food spots (we are lowkey foodies) we will also have to visit Ponce City Market/Rooftop and to be honest we will be on the journey of exploration together. Some of the most exciting things places to check out are on Tik-Tok. Its like my little tour guide at my fingers.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am who I am today because of my faith in Jesus Christ, my Lord, my Savior. My bestfriend Gabby who has been super supportive over every decision, idea that was brought, a woman who travails in prayer for me. The encouragement of my Instagram & Youtube platform. Even on the rainiest of days that tribe of community keeps me going !
