We had the good fortune of connecting with Khas Dock and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Khas, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
If I’m being honest, my business started it self. It wasn’t my goal or plan to do anything that I’m doing in business today. I looked up one day and realized I was doing all of these things that, although never sought after, felt like my passion and purpose; and then it became my business.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business, Lake Street Enterprises, which is slated to officially launch this year, will be the avenue that I use to continue solving problems and soothing pain. Whether offering business solutions to a startup company or publishing the next bestselling book, my aim is to offer solutions and services that alter lives and businesses for the better. Being in business is not for the faint of heart but with God, determination, and a strong community of support, thriving is inevitable. My business journey has been full of twists and turns but I’ve also seen prosperity along the way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hmm. I’m a homebody who moved to Atlanta in 2013 and still uses a GPS to get around so I may not be the best tourist, but there are a few places that come to mind: -The Cocoa Cola Factory – Wine Tasting – The Trap Museum 😌 – Jeni’s Ice Cream – Ponce City Market – The Belt Line – Juicy Crab – Atlantic Station – As many black eateries we can visit.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Woah. It would take a while to name all of the influential people in my story, but here are the ones that are at the top of the list: my family; my foster mom turned Mother, Valarie Benn; my first real employer and the person who helped me discover gifts I was a stranger to, Shaun Saunders; my parental figures and life guides, LaBryant + Phineka Friend; Marquis Boone, who opened life changing career doors.
