We had the good fortune of connecting with Khadijah Muhammad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Khadijah, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“I don’t like to gamble, but if there is one thing I am willing to bet on, it is myself.” I never limited myself or waited for the right opportunity to come. If there was a goal I wanted to reach, I went for it regardless of what the naysayers said. I can say that I am truly my own advocate and cheerleader and believe that is how I got to where I am today. I know that betting on yourself can get you to places you never thought you could go.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is in the real estate industry and is located in Atlanta, Georgia. What I believe sets me apart from others is that I really started from the bottom with no hand outs, which makes me most proud because I put in the work to get to where I am now. I had no prior experience in real estate, but going through a successful home buying/home selling experience as a client intrigued me to want to get into real estate. The thought of serving as an advocate to other families who wanted to purchase a home while also helping them create generational wealth had a really nice ring to me. Was this journey easy? No, not at all. Nothing you want in life comes easy. If it was that easy, trust and believe everybody would be doing it. When I was faced with challenges, I stayed the course and kept going no matter what. I did not throw in the towel even though some days I felt discouraged and defeated. I remained resilient and knew with consistency and hard work things would get better.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, here in Atlanta there are plenty of things to do and lots of nice spots. If my best friend was in town visiting, I would take her to the Glen Hotel rooftop so we can eat good, view the Atlanta scenery, and enjoy the Atlanta weather. We will enjoy a few sidecar drinks to get our night started then head to Tribeca Lounge (assuming it’s a Wednesday) to experience the nightlife and network with like-minded individuals.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My immediate family of course! I have had several business ventures – t-shirt line, eyelash extension business, tax preparation company, rental car company, and now a real estate business. But through every business venture I started, my family always supported me and gave me the encouragement I needed to persevere.
