We had the good fortune of connecting with Keyondra Rena and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keyondra, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
As a young Black entrepreneur and content creator who is also a full-time college student and works part-time, finding a balance can be demanding. Balancing work, studies, and personal life can be challenging at times, and adding the additional role of being a content creator and business owner further increases the complexity of my life, however I love every bit of it. Some things that I have started to do is prioritize and set clear goals for myself and business. This helps with allocating my time and energy into my project effectivley. I have also developed a structred scheudle for myself in order to accomodate my varius commitments. Setting aside specific times blocks for work, studies, content creation/business with calanders and productivy tools has helped in staying organized.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my unique blend of creativity, passion, and perspective as a young black woman from Selma Alabama. I draw inspiration from the rich history, culture, and resilience of my community, infusing it into my business and content. I strive to use my platform to shed light on important social issues, promote diversity, orginality, and celebrate the beauty and strength of black culture. One thing I’m particularly proud of is my ability to connect with my audience on a deeper level. I aim to create content that resonates with people’s emotions, evokes thought, and sparks conversations. By authentically sharing my experiences, I hope to inspire and empower others, especially those from marginalized and underdeveloped communities.

Getting to where I am today professionally has been a journey filled with both challenges and triumphs. It certainly wasn’t easy and I have a lot more work to do, but I believe that the challenges I faced have only made me stronger and more determined. I overcame obstacles by staying focused, maintaining a positive mindset, and seeking support from my community, mentors, and loved ones. Their guidance, encouragement, and belief in my abilities have been instrumental in my growth. Along the way, I’ve learned several valuable lessons. Firstly, perseverance is key. It’s important to stay committed to my vision and goals, even when faced with setbacks or criticism. Secondly, collaboration and networking are powerful tools. By building relationships with like-minded individuals, I’ve been able to expand my reach and opportunities. Lastly, continuous learning and adaptability are crucial in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. I stay curious, embrace new technologies and trends, and constantly seek ways to improve my craft. What I want the world to know about me and my brand and platform is that it’s more than just another accessory brand and social media account. It’s a representation of resilience, creativity, and the power of storytelling. Through my work, I aim to challenge stereotypes, break barriers, and inspire positive change. I want to contribute to a world where diverse voices are amplified, where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. My story is a testament to the potential that lies within marginalized communities. It serves as a reminder that with determination, hard work, and a supportive community, dreams can be achieved despite the obstacles we face. I hope to inspire others, particularly young black creators and entrepreneurs, to pursue their passions fearlessly and create their own unique paths to success.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting Atlanta, Georgia, and I wanted to show them the best time ever, here’s a week-long itinerary that combines great food, movies, social life, and some of the most fun and interesting places to check out:

Morning: Start the trip with a delicious breakfast at where we are able to enjoy a real southern breakfast experience.
Afternoon: Explore the neighborhood of Little Five Points, known for its vintage shops, and street art.
Evening: Go to a drive in movie theater and watch a favorite black film ( Love and Basketball, The Fighting Temptations, etc).

The other days in the itinerary would be simialr to this and would provide a mix of Atlanta’s iconic landmarks, cultural attractions, culinary favorites, and vibrant social scenes. It showcases the city’s diverse offerings and would ensure my best friend experiences the best of what Atlanta has to offer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I want to dedicate a heartfelt shoutout to my friends and family. Their unwavering love, encouragement, and belief in my abilities have been the driving force behind my pursuit of successs. Their sacrifices and constant support have allowed me to pursue my dreams while balancing my responsibilities. I am grateful for their guidance and the values they have instilled in me. Whether it’s lending an ear to listen, providing insightful advice, or simply being there to celebrate milestones, their presence has made a significant difference. Furthermore, the campus organizations I have been involved such as the International Business Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi and SISTUHS Incorporated have played a pivotal role in shaping my personal and professional growth. From leadership opportunities to networking events and skill-building workshops, these organizations have provided me with a platform to connect with like-minded individuals and expand my knowledge beyond the classroom. Their collective efforts in creating a vibrant and inclusive campus community deserve more recognition than I will ever be able to give.
