We had the good fortune of connecting with Keyondra Garvin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keyondra, what matters most to you?
Providing outstanding customer service is a principle that matters the most to me. I am a southern girl at heart and was always taught to treat people how I wanted to be treated. It all begins in the greeting and ensuring people feel comfortable with you. People could spend their money anywhere but they want to trust that the people they are interacting with has a caring spirit.

This principle is one of the top focuses in Luminous Gatherings Event Space. The location is bright and intimate and is really the best place to host your most special events. We love seeing people enter their events with the biggest smiles when they gather with their family and friends.

This space is nestled in Sandy Springs, GA and offers an open concept with white walls, mirrors and exposed high ceilings.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career started as a guest service representative for the Hampton Inn and Suites Savannah Midtown. I wanted this job badly and waited and waited for a call back. The agent that trained me Anjuli, gave me a crash course into the world of customer service and I listened intently to her every word. She really set the tone for me. I stayed in the industry for 9 years and joined the management team. My last role was General Manager at the Hampton Inn and Suites Alpharetta. It was a fun and rewarding experience. I learned a lot and my greatest strength was customer satisfaction. I stepped away as my little family was growing and I had a newborn that I wanted to spend time with.

“Anything worth having takes time, patience, dedication and a can do attitude” is a quote I stand behind. The journey was not easy but it was necessary. I was under thirty in a management position and that comes with its own challenges. I have met some amazing people and that motivated me to keep going forward and having the courage.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way is just be kind to others and most importantly yourself. Life will give you challenges but it is all in how you handle it.

I want the world to know that it’s really true, what you give out is what you will get back in return. My experience in hotel management was also a motivation for me to start my own intimate event space business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Atlanta and all of the opportunities to gather with your friends. I love a good food experience, especially brunch. We would go to Pappadeux’s, The Garden Room or Slush.

We would also enjoy walking around Ponce City Market or The Beltline.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to a few awesome people and organizations. I would first like to give honor to God. This endeavor would not be possible without Him.

I would also like to give a shoutout to my mom who has been deceased since 2007. She was a hospitality genius and worked in sales with Hyatt hotels and was my first introduction into hotels. I watched her work tirelessly in this industry and it is funny how I also joined the hospitality world.

A special shoutout to North Point Hospitality and Kana Hotel Group. It was an awesome experience working with both companies during my hospitality journey. I remember my first interview and I mentioned that my ultimate desire is to be an event planner.

Last but not least, my better half Derrick who motivates and supports me. I also cannot forget all of our family and friends.
