We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Paul and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
One of the most important lesson that I’ve learned in business business is that it constantly changes internally and externally. Our podcast started right before the COVID-19 pandemic struck and we initially began the process remotely. As the curfews and COVID mandates began to lift, we then started to cover local Atlanta talent and key community leaders. Today, we’ve directed our business to be more homegrown to reduce the cost of resources such as overhead and time. Every week, we apply what we learn to move towards the goal that’ve set: diversity and insightfulness about everyday thought.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Second Thought Podcast (TSTPCATL) is an Atlanta-based podcast that focuses on local and national art, news, and culture. Our mission is to empower our community and provide discussion on topics that we believe deserve more light. Too often to we find ourselves asking our friends and family about news that they’re apathetic about. Being apathetic shows carelessness if one is only concerned about themselves.

The accomplishment that I am most proud of is our consistency. While working in a remote environment, it’s easy to allow ourselves to let responsibilities fade, but that is something that we have yet to do. Since beginning the podcast, we’ve been able to tap in with community leaders such as Teaacup and Tyler Deakin’s Sports Beacon to provide value to the community.

Some challenges that we’ve overcame are building the proper team and assigning roles. When starting a business with family and friends, we’ve learned to leave relationships at the front door. For anyone starting a business out there, your first team will not remain the same throughout your business’ lifespan, I can promise that!

I’d like the world to know that The Second Thought Podcast is here with you in mind. We’d like to gather more of your opinion and thoughts regarding what’s happening in the world. Let us hear your voice!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you’re visiting Atlanta for the first time, start your day off with Flying Biscuit! I’m a stickler when it comes to well-prepared omelets. Afterwards, visit Hallah Guys for some solid dinner or lunch, but if you want something a bit more upscale, I always recommend Kevin Rathbun!

Some great hangout spots are Piedmont Park, Andrettis, or Ponce City Market. I enjoy movement with my activities, so step outside!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to shout out Myles Kiett, Co-Founder of the Second Thought Podcast. Myles has brought his creativity and insightfulness since Day 1 and it is much appreciate. Much of TSTPCATL wouldn’t be what it is today without his constructive criticism and eagerness to learn. He also has a Twitch channel which can be found @mykeraw!
